Breakfast was amazing!! Location astounding

My mattress was bad and the plastic covering made me sweat all night

It was sooo cold in the room but the staff provided us with this awesome blanket to help.

We love this place for its wonderful view, nature and wonderful hosts.

The room was clean and had all what we needed. Ok spacious. Good price, very affordable. There were vending machines with snacks and instant noodles. Breakfast was included.

I wished that the staff was more friendly, helpful and accommodating. Only one of the staff (Vendi) was friendly and helpful. We couldn’t get information about trails in the area. During our stay, they stopped allowing hiking in the national park and later visiting the Geres National Park because of the fires, the hostel did not have any information about this. Nothing was mentioned even when we have been asking about hiking trails. I wrote ahead because of the fires, to learn whether they were affected and I did not get an answer. I called twice and got no answer. When we got at the location, we were told that they did not answer the phone because we had a country code they did not recognize! Come on, we had made reservations and they knew which country we were arriving from. Check in is at 6 PM quite late in my opinion, but it was known ahead, so I should have paid better attention. We got there early (2 PM) because I was concerned about the fires and because I was not aware about the time change between Spain and Portugal and we got permission to check in after 5 PM. Closest place to get something to eat is around 8-900 meters away. Breakfast was very canteen-like. More fresh fruit would have been nice. The pears they served were way overripe. Coffee was spilled around a coffee machine and I saw the personal doing something in front of the machine but they did not clean the mess! It was allowed to stay for all the time we had our breakfast. Not that appealing. We were unfortunately to get hot days and the sun was just making our room hot early in the morning. Not so easy to cool the room. In general, it doesn’t seem so used to international guests.
