"The boat is palatial and in a great location. The owner was very helpful and arranged an airport pick up and a taxi to Pahalgam. The WiFi worked very well too."

Great location. Best for one night stay to experience houseboats. If you are planning to make one base for your entire Kashmir trip, Mr Goona can arrange the tours and sightseeing as a package. Staff was friendly and food was fresh and healthy. I recommend tourists visiting this place.
One needs small boat to reach the houseboat (1-2 min ride), so not well suited for very elderly people.

Mr.Goona was an excellent host and took care of our needs and things to do in Kashmir during our stay. One should request for home food that is much better than dining out.
The sound insulation in our rooms can be improved. We could easily hear every conversation and noise from the other room. This was a bit inconvenient in the morning when one is looking for those extra minutes of sleep.

First time staying in a houseboat in Dal Lake, I’m just in awe with the beauty of it. The two staff who on the boat does everything - picking us up at the pier, cleaning, cooking meals everything. But there’s only the two of them. And they do everything. We went on a boat ride around the lake for an hour, many people will come trying to sell you something. You just need to be persistent and say no. The houseboat doesn’t rock, there are so many of them they are fixtures on the lake like buildings. There is not much insulation so summer is the time to come. There are so many so call and ask the rate and bargain for the best rate before you said yes.
For 5,500 rupees a night this is by far the least pleasant stay of all the hotels on this trip in India. First of all the room partition is flimsy, we can hear every single thing the next rooms say and do. The flooring carpet seems like hasn’t cleaned or changed for a long time. The bathroom shower is not working, can only sit on a stool and bathe yourself, Japanese style. The window of the bathroom can’t close, it’s a fixture which creates two problems - 1. If someone stands outside of the window he can see everything; 2. It’s cold and can get easily sick. There’s only a flimsy curtain there. Then comes the owner Mr Goona. He says all these things about helping you make travel arrangements in Kashmir which some are fine some are not. The taxi driver he sent was excellent. But then he also wants us to book hotel rooms with him elsewhere that are way overpriced. Just like that dinner on the houseboat he charged us 2500 rupees for two person. It was salty and below standard for this price. Not to mention he always wants to send in his guy to sell me shawls and scarves. I find it annoying which is a big no in the hotel industry. This guy would not leave me alone during the stay there. He’s friendly in the first moments but afterwards especially when he couldn’t get us to book hotel rooms and buy shawls through him he gets annoyed. I paid a big premium to relax and chill and I got his constant pestering. Maybe this is Indian style but I didn’t pay for this.
