Romantic Evas Cottage

The villa was very clean & in a brilliant location. The pool was cleaned daily in the morning by the Villa Owners who live in the house behind. 3 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, 2 rooms with double beds and 2 rooms with 2 single beds. The master bedroom has an en-suite & walk in wardrobe and all rooms have a balcony. The field next to the villa provided a lovely added extra, with a peacock (we named him Peter) and a cockerel (Paul) & a few chickens. There were lots of things in the villa incase you hadn’t remembered something - hair grips in the bedroom, sanitary products in the bathrooms, hairdryer & curlers, just lots of little things you may not think about. The kitchen has many appliances, including a juicer which was used each morning with fresh oranges to make juice to go with breakfast! The host Gloria was wonderful, she had left treats for us upon arrival, and came back several times with other things for us to try - as well as cooking us a beautiful lunch one of the days we were there! We stayed for 10 days, and on day 6 we left for a few hours as Gloria, Eva & some cleaners came to refresh the bedding and towels. Lots of spare bedding & towels around the villa, nothing extra we could’ve asked for!

The water system I assume is a tank, it doesn’t quite serve all 3 bathrooms at once/within close times. We discovered that after both showers being used there was no hot water left. Easily worked around though, we set timers for the children’s showers and made sure to save enough hot water for an evening bath. (No plug in the master bedroom bath - I used a plastic bag with cotton buds in & it worked perfectly😅)

Amazing playroom in the basement Everything was provided from toys, games, books food essentials and condiments and they cooked us a meal on the arrival day ❤️ floatees all inflated by the pool and toys such as bats and balls - perfect for a family holiday

Logement très grand adapté à 2 couples avec enfants, avec tous les condiments, ustensiles et équipements nécessaires. Restaurants et supermarchés accessibles à pieds. Quelques chats très bien élevés nous tiennent parfois compagnie sur la terrasse. Merci à Eva et sa maman pour l'accueil et l'hospitalité !

Un peu bruyant la nuit de par la proximité de la route et de l'aéroport (mais j'imagine qu'on entend les avions sur toute la côte à l'est d'Héraklion). Je n'ai pas testé la piscine un peu trop froide pour fin octobre.

Romantic Evas Cottage is very large, well presented, clean and extremely welcoming. The villa has everything on hand and available to you, during your stay. We had a wonderful hot meal cooked for us upon arrival and had some other surprises left in our fridge throughout our stay.

The pool is much smaller than the impression given by photos but was fully utilised by our children. Evas father came by every morning to use the net and scoop out any bugs. However on our last day Evas father added chemicals to the pool early in the morning and was cleaning it for hours ready for the next guests. This meant that we could not use the pool at all and we had company in the garden. Not exactly how we envisaged our last day of the holiday! Upon arrival at the airport Eva kindly met us, however there was an issue with our hire car. We had agreed a price with Eva for 7 days but could only have the car for 6 days. Unfortunately we still had to pay the same price as the new car was supposedly bigger than the one that had been booked. We were reluctant to do so as we were left with no car for 24 hours and had no means to get to the airport. Eva apologised profusely and wanted to pay for our return taxi to the airport, this was agreed and we were also reassured we could stay in the villa on our final day, until our taxi picked us up. This seemed a fair compromise. We enjoyed our holiday in the villa and messaged Eva the afternoon before we were leaving to confirm flight times and pick up. In response to this message Eva informed us we had to be out of the villa by 12 pm as new guests were arriving and their flights were early! So despite being assured we could stay in the villa as we were stranded with no car, we couldn’t. This led to a great amount of stress and awkwardness as we had not packed by this point and had bought food for our last day in the villa…. Eva offered us use of her car but this was not the point and how would we be insured. Literally 4 pm the day before we were told we had to leave at 12pm. I do not feel that this is the right way to treat any guests and felt we had been misled to take the hire car deal right in the beginning.
