Holiday Menfi | Casale Abate

Leuk huisje op een kleinschalig en mooi domein, met een heel leuk zwembad, pingpongtafel, gedeelde BBQ en buitenkeuken,... Er zijn maar vier huisjes, soms hadden we het zwembad voor ons alleen. Je hebt ook toegang tot een mooi privé strand, dat op 20 minuten rijden ligt. Supermarkt vlakbij het domein. Het huisje was netjes en goed uitgerust met een charmante en goed ingerichte keuken, goede bedden,… Heel attent dat er een fles wijn en een flesje olijfolie als welkomstcadeau klaarstonden, en er koel water in de frigo lag. De verhuurder reageert heel snel via whatsapp als je tijdens je verblijf een vraag hebt.

De douchebak lekte waardoor de badkamer elke keer nat lag. Jammer dat je met je afval een eindje moet rijden naar containerpark, maar dat was ook zo in ander huisje dat we op Sicilië huurden dus dat lijkt helaas wel het Siciliaanse systeem te zijn. Er worden wel goede containertjes voorzien voor het transport, maar echt aangenaam is het niet.

We spent here 10 wonderful days. The apartment is spacious, comfortably furnished, equipped with all necessary equipment and perfectly clean. We had a private terrace and access to a lovely swimming pool and private beach - about 15 minutes by car. Casale Abate lies in the middle of plantation of olive trees. There is peace and quiet there. An ideal place if you want to relax and break away from the noise of city life.

Menfi is a small city with a rather industrial appearance. You can do the necessary shopping and have lunch, but I wouldn't call Menfi a charming tourist destination. For us it was ok because we wanted peace and quiet.

Cosy, well maintained resort with only 4 accomodations, quiet, nice and clean swimming pool, great private beach (15min drive), contains everything you need during holidays. The place itself is like a little paradise, surrounded by palmtrees and olivetrees. The owner is very friendly and (English) communication via Whatsapp is quick and easy. Even when we had complaints about the wrong accomodation that was given to us, he apoligized and arranged that we could move over when the other guests left. The location of the resort is on a 5 min. drive from the center of Menfi. A car is really needed when staying here. The town of Menfi was a bit of a ghosttown to us, nothing really to do. Around the coast/beaches is a little more to do, although it's not really accomodated for tourism, which can be both positive and negative.

When we arrived, the kind man who received us only spoke Italian. Unfortunately we were given the wrong appartment. This appartment (two bedroom appt. with garden view) is a dark house and we felt like no one stayed in there this year yet, because of the stale smell. Luckyly, after two days we could move over to our booked appt. (Deluxe appt). This is by far the nicest appartment, with eveningsun, biggest patio and the only detached house. Another (for us) negative experience was that the premises is very popular with dog owners (they didn't need to be on a leash, even around the swimming pool, which results in the dogs peeing everywhere around the property.) Facilities as bbq, washing machine, iron etc. are all shared.
