Taman Simalem Resort

The location is unbeatable! The property is huge and has a lot to offer. The staff is so friendly and helpful and do their very best to make ones stay as comfortable as possible.

Outside of high season a lot of amenities are closed or only available on pre-booking. As someone who enjoys an alcoholic beverage other than beer and wine at times it was disappointing that this wasn’t catered for. A glass of champagne or a cocktail in the evening on the balcony would have been lovely. There is a small selection of drinks available at the shop, but they are warm and not all rooms come with a fridge. However we were supplied one on request which was great. The website could do with more information: highlight differences between high and low season, keep up to date what is operational and what is under construction, list the activities which options to pre-book. We only had one day, two nights which made it hard to get our heads around to what was on offer and with lead up time for organising things we ended up simply exploring the grounds.

The hotel is located on the top of the crater and has amazing views. I think we were the in low season as most looked closed. The rooms are pretty worn down but they seem to be fixing more the gardens… as the hotel is far from other things we ate there and the food was good and good priced. But not sure the actual accommodation is worth the price. You are paying for the big property and all the gardens.

On the expensive side for what you get for the room

The views were fantastic!

The property was too big, everything else was too far, you need a car from the resort to the main road and the main road is dangerous they weren’t potholes, too big and too many of them and sometimes we ended up with 3 cars in the same 2 ways road ! It felt more like a Golden prison, the property organize everything in the resort, so that you stay within the vicinity…
