    Unfortunately this was going to be the highlight of our trip to NZ, but we were disappointed. The Good, the unit is lovely and clean, we did wish that it had a microwave and some plates and cutlery. sheer curtains on the window would be good as everyone could look in from the car park during the day. The bad, prior to arrival we asked for a quiet room and although we were placed in a quiet room, it was right next to the gym which was used early in the morning and by kids during the day. Also the day we arrived there was a one man band practising in the pool area right below us for a private function, we also had music that night until about 9.30pm. The music was not bad, but we did travel a fair way and wanted a good nights sleep. Finally the restaurant was closed the day we arrived, which we were not aware off and specials which we were told about, and which were also advertised as being available, were not when we went to make our order with the kitchen. I Don’t normally complain but it was disappointing. Hope this helps

    We booked this hotel when I was looking for a reasonably priced motel. For some reason this hotel, which is clearly a 4 or 5 star hotel, was priced at the same price as a motel. It is in the center of town and has all the facilities and services that you would expect from a first class hotel. I've stayed in many various hotels around the world and this is a standard top class hotel at a very reasonable price. The wing we are staying in has just been refurbished so everything is brand new. Both my 12 year old daughter and I loved everything about our stay here.

    We were very disappointed with the room allocation at Carnmore Chateau Marlborough. My friend and I stayed on the same night but made separate bookings for two different room categories. I booked a Superior Studio, while my friend specifically booked a Chateau Studio with Balcony. However, after checking in, we found that both of us had simply been allocated standard Studio rooms. My friend paid for a room that specifically included a balcony, but the room provided had no balcony at all. My Superior Studio also did not appear to match the room category I had booked. The most disappointing part was that the hotel did not inform us that our booked room types were unavailable, did not explain the change, and did not offer any compensation or refund of the room-rate difference. We only realised the problem after seeing the rooms ourselves. If guests pay for specific room categories and facilities, the hotel should provide what was booked. If that is not possible, guests should at least be told clearly at check-in and offered an appropriate alternative or refund. The rooms themselves may be acceptable, but this is a booking and service issue. Receiving a different room from what was booked and paid for seriously affected our experience.
