"Hale Pohaku" - Waimanalo is a beautiful beachfront home on one of Oahu's most spectacular beaches; Waimanalo. Listed on the Register of Hawaii's Historic Homes this classic restored beach house was built of lava rock during the reign of King Kalakaua. Guests enjoy the white sand beach that fronts the home as well as the clear blue waters for swimming, snorkeling and boogie boarding. Called "Hale Pohaku" or "House of Stone", this home sleeps 8 and is a wonderful getaway throughout the year. Guests enjoy the spacious living room with classic vaulted ceiling and large picture window overlooking the blue Pacific. Enjoy the 5 miles of sugary-white sand beach fronting the home as it extends for several miles along the shoreline.

There is a separate caretaker cottage with private entry also located at the front of this property (not intrusive to rental guests)!

We had a wonderful long stay at Hale Pohaku and really appreciated the property’s rich history, amazing location, and direct access to a beautiful beach. It was also conveniently close to several other popular beaches on the island. The outdoor space was lush and relaxing, filled with exotic plants and stocked with all the beach necessities we needed. We also loved that there was a great café and burger stand nearby that were both easy to walk to and delicious.The layout of the home worked very well for our family, especially the bedroom and living spaces. That said, we do feel the house could benefit from a true deep clean, as parts of it felt a little musty during our stay. The rugs seemed like they needed deep cleaning, and there was noticeable dust on some of the fans. We also encountered several large cockroaches in the kitchen. We understand this can be part of the Hawaiian environment, but it was still unpleasant.The property manager, who lives on-site, was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay, and gave us great local recommendations. Overall, we had a wonderful trip and really enjoyed our time at the property.

If you are looking for a beautiful, historic home,a view of creation at its most magical and unspoilt....then, this is the house for you! Exquisite in its decoration: Hawaiian quilts and vases of orchids,Chinese pots and water colors of the ocean.You will be lulled to sleep by the sound of waves. We hope to come back!

We spent a week here and it had everything we needed. Plenty of space so we weren't feeling on top of each other, tons of towels so I wasn't doing laundry every day, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook a few meals in. The home is older, but they've done a wonderful job keeping things updated so it doesn't really feel old. The only thing that felt "old" were the windows, but being a historic home I understand why its necessary to keep things as is. When its windy (and its always windy in Waimanalo) the doors/windows can be noisy in certain rooms. My kids wouldn't sleep in a certain bedroom due to the windy noises. The property management was fantastic, and they even sent me back my jacket that I left on accident after scrambling to catch out flight home! We would 1000% stay here again!
