Interesting, offbeat stay with a superb restaurant.
Very pleasant country hotel with excellent meals and sweet staff. The owner seems gruff but is perfectly pleasant as well.
The bathroom felt quite bare without any cosy touches. There was no particular view from our room at least.

Nice location in a quiet and picturesque corner of the Black Forest.
It is situated in a very quiet village in the mountains of the Black Forest. About 10 minutes to Lake Schuchsee. It's a very scenic area, room was clean and comfortable. Nice breakfast and a good dinner was had in the hotel restaurant.
Room walls are very thin. There was a family with young children in the next room to us and they were quite noisy. Thankfully they left after the first night. Also our bathroom window somehow opened and overlooked the balcony in the next room! My wife was a bit self conscious as a result having a shower until the people in the next room vacated their balcony. Blinds would need to be put on the window even though it's frosted. But overall this did not spoil our stay

Extremely clean. The room is perfectly cleaned and the hotel overall is very clean. We arrived pretty late and the self check-in is convinient.
No featherless pillow even when asked a week before the travel.

Great family run hotel.
We were a large family so had to book an apartment and another room. The apartment was great with all the facilities. The play area at the back was also good for the kids. It was a nicely run family hotel which is very close to Schluchsee area.
Since these are old buildings, there were no elevators to reach higher floors. I had missed this point while booking but it might be more difficult for older people

beautiful area for hiking and close to the big city attractions. overall a nice place to stay.
The countryside of the Black Forest was ideal, absolutely beautiful and away from the main droves of tourists. The breakfast was robust and delicious. The location is not far from the Schluchsee, if you want to go there each day, so this was also very nice.
The farm animals are very charming, but there is a points at which the constant crying can be annoying after several hours, from goats and sheep, and cows. Of course this is only a minor complaint. More significant was the fact that the restaurant was not open regularly, requiring a drive out to find food each meal time. There was also no fan in the room (June!) and of course no air conditioning. Providing a fan in each room seems a reasonable request that was not considered. There is a strain of parsimony in the administration, for example, a small bottle of shampoo was provided for the room and never replaced. The food in the surrounding area is expensive in relation to quality, so the recommendation is to bring your own food if convenient.
