Krabi La Playa Resort

This hotel is in a great location, tucked away down a quiet street but close to plenty of restaurants and shops, and the beach is a short walk away. We opted for a pool access room (108), which was a good size. The hotel pool is really nice with comfortable sun loungers, we never had a problem being able to get a sun lounger, but then we did go in low season. We had a couple of issues at this hotel that we reported to management. The management was very apologetic and dealt with the issues immediately and never made us feel bad for complaining.

The breakfast is really pretty poor and basic, having travelled Thailand over many years I have to say that this was the worst we have had. There is a lack of choice, some foods tasted stale, food not always warm, pastries were soggy, minimal salt and pepper pots so you have to go looking for them. Then the staff, honestly, it felt like we were not even in Thailand, where the people are usually so friendly. The staff member greeting people and taking the room number was happy, polite, and gave a warm welcome. The other staff there was nothing. In fact, some were even quite rude at times. The happy hour only consists of 5 or 6 cocktails, I've never stayed anywhere where happy hour is so limited. A few things could improve this hotel massively, I really do hope that management looks at reviews and makes some changes to make this hotel as great as it could be.

Breakfast wasn’t for us - think it comes down to preference, but don’t feel like there was much ourselves and the kids liked.

Hotel nice ,food ok,clean bed good

Location and space: Location is spot on. Very quiet but easily accessible to shopping street. The property is sprawling..so spacious! We stayed at the 4th floor, in rooms 402 and 403. Both had a shower and bathtub. The tub is only for soaking not for showering(no shower head above). In case you have 2 people who needed to shower at the same time separately. Breakfast: Area was well organised, good breakfast spread but taste was nothing fantastic. Note that ham/sausage/bacon are all chicken, not pork. There are many staff just idling around, couldn't be bothered to clear used plates. Pool: This is the one redeeming quality of this property. Pool was very clean and long enough to do proper laps.

Cleanliness: There are corners with dust. You had to wear slippers to walk around or else floor felt gritty. Sink doesn't look clean after room was made up. We had towels that smelled slightly musty. Cons: The room could do with more lights. Its not creepy or anything. Just hard to see yourself at the vanity table next to the bed. The room could have also done with more charging points. There's hardly any next to the bedside. Any charging points were blocked by the beds. We had to charge at the area where the coffee maker was.

Room was spacious. Pool was exceptional. Location good.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Close to the beach and eateries. Varied breakfast, I don't understand the complaints about this. What do these people eat at home? Friendly staff, especially the woman where you can book tours. And my room with pool access was really lovely. Very large, neat and clean.

It is at a good location with many restaurants, bars etc around, even the beach and market are within walking distance. The staff was friendly, especially the tour guide, Amanda. She was very helpful and knowledgeable, and even gave us a good price for trips and activities. The breakfast was good enough. The only concerns was the housekeeping. When we left and came back, the room was made up but the floors and surfaces were wiped poorly. There were still hairs on the floor and marks on the bathroom counter. The gym is also very small and outdated, they could take out the unnecessary machines to rather just have treadmills, dumbells and benches. The pool area is quite nice, good place to relax. The massages are also affordable and done well.

I could never book this hotel again. It was terrible. I originally booked for three nights and tried to leave at 1am my first night. I was placed in third floor at end but while walking to room hallways were dirty and unclean. The room itself was dirty, stains on bed, furniture and water all over bathroom floor despite not even using it. Also parking was meant to be included so staff member had to move their car for me to park in extremely small space at front. Depending on where you park if you get a spot that has not got staff parked in it you could easily be blocked in. I didn’t look too quickly as I was hungry for food but on further inspection when I got back I felt very uncomfortable. Cockroach in room when I walked in which is no big deal (it’s Thailand) and they removed it quickly. However four more arrived within about 15 mins. I asked for some boric acid type powder or killer to be put down but all they had was a spray. Trying to sleep with the smell of the spray and cockroaches coming out of ac vent was just a no for me. I asked to be moved and was told next door or one other room which was just as dirty when I inspected it. I asked them to check out but night manager Ann had no clue what to do or how to refund my two extra nights. I had to wait till manager on day shift. I asked him about cleaning of hallways and room and was told they all gone home, but it hadn’t been done during day either. I honestly don’t feel like my room was cleaned properly before I checked in. Didn’t sleep at all. Took a shower to freshen up before leaving and was scaled by hot and then freezing cold water. Not only that despite having a do not disturb sign on my room door, cleaning staff walked straight in while I was naked without even knocking. I was refunded for the other two nights and 30% of first night but I should have been allowed to leave when I asked to at 1am. Overall a horrible experience.

The hotel is a little hidden gem. Only a few minutes walk to all the bars, restaurants and the beach. Peaceful setting, clean rooms. The staff are wonderful. Always smiling.

The only negative I would say is that people get up very early and reserve sunbeds around the pool, but dont use them for hours. There are polite notices asking customers not do this, but it is not being adhered to. There were a couple of days that we wanted to have a chill out day by the pool, but to ensure we had a sunbed we had to be up at 7.30am... people should be more considerate.

Good size rooms with sitting area inside and outside on the balcony. Ground floor rooms with pool access, WOW!! 2 entrances to resort means you have access to restaurants, money exchange, laundry, 7-eleven & transport (all within a short walk).

On the whole the hotel was 10 out of 10 everything. Location, facilities, breakfast buffet 👌, excellent pool area with plenty of beds. Great pool bar with afternoon happy hour. far away from the noise of Resort but stones throw to it all. Certainly would stay again 👍

Nothing, it was perfect

Our favourite hotel in the whole of Thailand. the staff were incredible so welcoming and friendly and super helpful. we decided to upgrade to the spa pool and pool access room on the day of check in and would highly recommend this it was AMAZING! the food at breakfast was perfect and good choice. The swim up pool bar was great the staff were exceptional and we loved the happy hour of 2 for 1 cocktails. great location close to everything in Krabi it was perfect. Thank you!

it’s ambience and location

The hotel was well located and the rooms were ncie and big.

Unfortunately (and probably we were just unlucky and might not reflect the reality of the hotel) they gave us a room where the air-conditioning was not working properly. They changed our room at 1am in the night... We suspect they already knew about it and they just gave us that room anyway. In addition, the shower was not draining properly, and after a minute in the shower the flooding was already over your feet.

After initial confusion with room booked, the stay was very good. Breakfast, pool facilities were very nice. I would recommend that the staff orientate guests a little bit better about things like the Night Market, how to go island hopping - especially for those are not in group tours. The staff were friendly and helpful. The manager in the restaurant kept everyone on their toes. Other guests also enjoyed their stay from what we could see. The bag with towels for the beach came in very handy. It is in a good location.

Someone made allot of noise on the floor above us - they jumped up and down. The room only had two pillows for 3 people.

excellent and relaxed hotel. comfortable rooms, great service. located in the center of Ao Nang. very helpful with booking of trips and transport. We have been here for 3 times now and always had an excellent experience.
