We have stayed several times before so returned. Great Restaurant. Friendly staff and good breakfast.
It's not the hotels fault, but I had to call reception due to excessive noise past midnight from residents above our bedroom! You could hear every footstep. The rooms on the 2nd floor should be carpeted. Also damp in the bathroom and radiator not working and also the bathroom cabinet light was not working and extremely loose tap.

The restaurant and the entrance/reception area. Also good full English breakfast.
The grounds needed some tlc, and some of the decor in the rooms felt a bit cheap.

Bed was comfy and the room was clean.
There was no hot water or heating in the room due to an issue with the boiler

Room was perfectly adequate. Staff friendly. Main entrance area was grand and looked very beautiful. Parking was nice and easy.
Bathroom a little tired but reasonable for the low price.

Never been before what a beautiful location and building.
Was bright and welcoming with quaint areas to go with the age of the building.

Lovely, historic building. Clean, comfy bedroom. Pretty room decor and impressive reception & grand staircase. Really good Welsh Breakfast.
No lift and a lot of steep stairs to 2nd floor rooms.

The cooked breakfast was just standard. With no choice on how much you wanted or what was put on the plate. This is a shame for such a high cost room. Room very nice but tired. Carpets very marked. Need replacing. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Room tired in need of upgrade.

The property was fantastic we was well taken care of we couldn’t have asked for more on our wedding weekend. What a delightful experience from start to finish 😇

Breakfast was really good with excellent friendly service. The building was very impressive especially the grand entrance hall.
Room was a little tired and the shower temperature was difficult to control. The sash windows rattled. But, the value for money compared to the major chains was really good. Staff lovely and friendly. I would recommend.

My room was 1st floor of landing and you can hear everything people coming back late, not good for sleeping, was woken a few times in the night

Convenient location.
The bedroom was grubby & dusty. The TV remote looked like a health hazard. The pillows were thin, stained & very old.
A noisy fan woke me at 0300 and kept me awake for over an hour.

Location for my work, the staff are always friendly.
The hotel didn't seem busy, but I got a small room, on the second floor, with a poor view and close to a "machine" that worked several times during the night for 2 minutes every time, a loud noise that didn't help to rest. Stopped close to midnight.
Usually stayed here 2nigths every 2 to months...considering if it's worth staying next Year.

Loved this beautiful location with fantastic staff and a brilliant on site restaurant! Didn’t realise until we checked in that it was a set location for Gavin & Stacey! Everything was comfortable and the breakfast also superb. Great room with a lovely view over the grounds. Staff in the restaurant were excellent as was the food!

A lovely period property, with wooden floors, taxidermy and wood panelling and beautifully maintained throughout. It was quiet when I was there which was perfect for me although they do cater for corporate functions and weddings so I'm sure it is often busier. I received a warm welcome on reception and enjoyed a lovely Nepalese meal, and read my book by the fire and was given a tour of the ballroom and other function rooms since it was quiet - which was lovely to see. The hotel is situated in rolling hills with white doves and crows flying overhead amongst the trees. It was a very relaxing hotel, not far from the M4 and a perfect quiet, elegant retreat to stop for a night en-route to Pembrooke Dock. I felt like Lady Mary from Downton Abbey, rattling around the big house on my own :) My bedroom was very comfortable and the shower was fabulous.
I had a lovely Nepalese dinner. I like Indian/Nepalese food and the restaurant, food and staff were all lovely. Personally, I would have expected and preferred a more British / Mediterranean menu in a period hotel like this - maybe with the added option of Nepalese / Indian. I suspect most people now prefer Indian.

Not the hotel it was raining

Breakfast was individually cooked and perfect. Poached eggs - very good. Black puf=dding - good quality and fried. NOt too much quantity either - very welcome not to feel bloated after a 'hearty breakfast'.
Warm room despite its size, so the hotel doesn't stint on the heating. Clean and 'tidy' (thanks to Gavin and Stacey)
Mattress comfort was good and not over protected with plastic-like protectors which make the bed uncomfortably hot.
Overall standard of decor. Hotel needs a refurbishment as it's starting to look down at heel. Carpets could do with a good clean; they are good quality but need a wash. Several fittings were 'wonky', out of true or badly fitting. Four poster bed looked a pale imitation of a four poster

The staff were very friendly and helpful.
There are a lot of very nice rooms - ours wasn't so good - don't accept a loft room!
A number of electrical items in the room didn't work and the radiator was noisy.
Offered a room change on the second morning but maybe they should have allocated a better room or checked the one they were giving us; time was against us so now regret not taking up the offer.

The staff were all lovely. Lee was a star, welcoming and enthusiastic.
The main areas, lounge, dining room, reception, bar all very nice.
The grounds are lovely. The location has a get away feel whilst being in reach of the beaches, McAurthur Glenn & Bridgend centre.
The Japanese themed bedroom. Not welcoming or comfortable. The room needs updating, it was tatty.
There was noise both nights which woke us up in the early hours, sounded like the rearrangement of furniture

Staff very friendly, there was a wedding celebration going on when we arrived but the staff treat us very kindly even if they were a bit busy. The hotel is very charming and good remember the old days with a touch of new days. And we couldn't hear any party noise from our room, even with the wedding going on downstairs. Breakfast was a typical English breakfast on an old library room. Kids love the fairy tale vibes.
The parking is big enough for the guests but needs a bit of upgrade

If Location is everything , the place doesn’t disappoint, there is a vibe of nostalgia in the place, the decor and interior although takes you back in time, there is a good warmth to the place.

The Nepalese restaurant .Breakfast was nice.
Tired outdated rooms. Awful view overlooking rubbish and gas containers.

Good cooked breakfast. We were upgraded to a specious room away from the wedding party. The hotel is a large and impressive Victorian pile set in wonderful countryside. Staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the lady in reception. On-site restaurant was a bonus.
Hotel is a bit tired, needing some serious money investing in upgrading the rooms. No fruit at breakfast.

The hotel setting is very picturesque and the hotel looks amazing inside/out. The room was slightly dated but the cleanliness was spotless.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I'd highly recommend staying here and we will be back when next in the area.

The setting is superb looking over welsh countryside. Grounds well kept and would be brilliant venue for weddings . Breakfast was excellent with wide variety . Staff were lovely and very helpful
Rooms and corridors looked tired and room clean but smelt musty

Friendly, helpful staff both on reception and throughout the hotel, giving a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The attached restaurant (Nepalese) has excellent quality food and is good value.
It's an historic building with a layout and condition which reflects its age and in parts it needs some care and attention. The gardens also need some restoration to bring them back to good condition.
