One of my favourite hotels ever

This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. From the arrival until the end, everything was perfect, every wish fulfilled. The staff was very nice, we even got a softer materess or a breakfast to go when we asked for it! Morning yoga and evening meditations are included! The outside pool was just stunning, the whole area so relaxing. From the spa, we liked the infrarot sauna the best. In the mornings, we were presented a huge breakfast buffet and very tasty coffee. I would love to come back!

No Customer Focus at all!!!

The hotel gives a fantastic first impression. The grounds, gardens are the best I have ever seen from any boutique hotel. It is heavenly. The views from the whirlpool terrace were awesome & the location was perfect. Quiiet, only 10 minute walk to the centre of Merano. My room was in the modern wing which was stunning. The spa & the reastaraunt, all hit the note with me..... I even enquired if I could have a six month stay. The food is fantastic. The owner's son who works there understands Customer Experience and even at 21 the reigns should be handed over....Now read why I give this such a bad score. I couldn't fit in all the challenges & problems we had into the space for the review. Needless to say: we went to a neighbouring place for our evening meal on the second night where nothing was too much of a problem.

Rules! Rules!! RULES!!! One fundamental thing wrong with this hotel. The customer is an inconvenience to the processes and rules for staff & Owner. The the hotel is not 5 star. in the traditional internationally understood way,. It is a lovely small bouttique hotel, that sadly does not deliver what that 5th star should represent, flexxibility, focus on the Customer Experience. Morning 1 I had phone calls to make so asked to have breakfast on a table in the terrace. I was initially told yes, then to be told no by a stern forcefull member off staff.. I explained I had lots of calls to make, didn't want to disturb the other guests & that I liked being outside. Instead of what should have happened in a '5 star' hotel, , 'certainly I will prepare the table" a full on arguement ensued with the member of staff, then with the receptionist who was sent to reminstrate with me. I was told it was too cold for staff to serve, a day I got sunburned, & I said as it's a buffet I'd do my own serving. I had to stand my ground. I asked to speak to the owner, who seemed in no rush to sort it out. Her approach was that the hotel decides whether the outside area is open or not & she enquired why I would be making so many calls on holiday. 1. None of her business. 2. I was not there on holiday. 3. I have a very dissabled son that has many issues just now that I was dealing with, but why should I be put in the position to explain myself at all. Seating at Breakfast is dictated by staff setting up for dinner & visa versa. So morning 2 second arguement with my friends that wanted to sit at one of the empty tables near the window. Not allowed as it was already set for dinner...REALLY!!!! I chose not to inconvenience staff & had just coffee on the terrace to make my calls, again doing guests a favour & was charged for the coffee. We asked if the dinner bill could be split 50/50 to be told not possible.

Merano is beautiful in autumn, Hotel Ansitz is the place to stay

We had a room upgrade to a Suite, which was a very nice gesture, much appreciated. - the suite was in the new wing, modern spacious and well designed. With All the little details that seasoned Travellers appreciate. The bed was comfortable, there was a walk-in wardrobe, and a daybed lounge area. Large shower - the spa area was large relative to size of hotel, with lots of relax areas, saunas, infra red, steam bath rooms. Excellent. We had massages by Sarah which was good. - the garden must be the pride & joy of the owner.. nice landscaping (some parts look like a Japanese garden), with fruit trees as well. - overall the hotel and room was very clean - good location- only 10-15 minute walk into town, part of it was a nice walk by the river.

The dining area was lovely but I wished they had more choices for dinner. We dined there all 3 nights. The beef steak was well cooked, the rest of the dishes were ok. Restaurant staff appears aloof. Service was efficient but not friendly. The senior person warmed up and was nice after we started talking to her.

The garden area with the outdoor pool is nice and relaxing and truly represents a 5 star category hotel. The breakfast is delicious, too

Our junior suite at the old building (where the reception is located) is not reflecting at all a 5 star category hotel. The view is very limited, the shower plus the furniture are old and far away from state of the art. I am very surprised that this hotel is listed as a 5 star hotel at booking.com while at the hotel webpage and hotel letterhead it states 4 star level - which I think is appropriate. A note to the Booking.com people: your listing as a 5 star hotel is misleading and simply not correct. You must correct that in particular given the top notch 5 star level pricing. Bottom line: the hotel is a good 4 star hotel but the price level is clearly not in any relation to the value delivered. We would never go there again at this price level. I am fine in paying for a true 5 star hotel category but this hotel is not worth that price level. It is a 4 star hotel, see pic from the floor

Nothing we were treated awfully. We were put in the worst room it was like a basement with no light at all. When we asked for another room we were rudely told that was all they had. When we said we would have to leave because of it no one cared and they charged us the full price plus tax on days we didn’t even stay for. We left after one night. Worst experience I’ve ever had in a hotel

We've booked a room with a mountain view but our room had a non-transparent window faced to the fence above the technical stage. We could have 10 sm of mountain view between bushes only on the back-side balcony. So the room was dark and stifling, we couldn't open the window due to the terrible noise from the technical stage. When we complained to the administration they didn't try to improve the situation.....

ein gutes, familiengeführtes Hotel - wir haben die vier Tage genossen, die strategische Lage ist sehr gut, um "alles" in Meran und rundum zu ergründen; die Investitionen der letzten Jahre wurden mit Bedacht umgesetzt und passt das meiste ganz gut zusammen;

die Aufmerksamkeit / Betreuung in der Sauna (dem Wellnessbereich) könnte besser sein; in der Bar gibt es nichts zum Essen - Snacks werden (wurden) nicht angeboten; die Mitarbeiter im Restaurant sind sehr darauf trainiert, alles sehr rasch abzuräumen (für unsere Gefühle, etwas zu rasch); insgesamt vermisst man (leider) teilweise den Gastgeber;
