The facilities were modern and well maintained
There was a tremendous amount of ice on the road of the property, which could’ve been cleaned. Very slippery.

Lovely comfortable room. Good buffet breakfast included in the price of the room. Lovely view of the Ravenna Bridge and a nice walk right on the door step. Couple of nice souvenir shops onsite.
Only small issues! We arrived quite late and there’s limited eating onsite and the restaurant was full. This didn’t matter for us as we had a car and there’s a little township only 5-10 minutes drive away. Can get quite touristy during the day with tour buses.

The staff was exceptional and the hiking trails behind the hotel were great
We were in room 504. There was no shade on the window which looks out into the cuckoo clock and shop. The lights are on until midnight so we could not sleep and had no privacy at all. Non stop, people looking in

We stayed for one night in early October with a few requirements, primarily that it was dog friendly for a highly trained Doberman and that the hotel had secure parking for my car as it’s a rare car and we didn’t want to unpack the car entirely in each hotel on our road trip. Both requirements were met and the parking was right by the hotel entrance We had a huge deluxe king suite that was v comfortable and a cool design with the added bonus of a large outdoor terrace. V welcoming reception and restaurant team and an absolutely awesome location situated directly in the heart of the Black Forest.

Great location for a stop when exploring the Black Forest region. We managed to explore Baden-Baden and Triberg before making our way down to Hofgut Sternen for the night. The food at the restaurant was sooo delicious as well - Did not expect much for a small restaurant in the middle of the forest but the food was flavourful and the price was reasonable as well (50eur/pp for 1 soup and 1 huge main). Room was spacious and clean, and I loved that the toilet had a heated drying rack. We reached there before sunset to explore the surrounding areas, and we absolutely loved the short walk near the Ravenna Railway Duct. The quiet and peaceful walk lead us to a small waterfall. The whole area just felt very quaint and peaceful which was really nice :)
The room could have benefitted from an AC, but I know it's uncommon in Europe. We went when the weather was nice and cool though, so the lack of an AC didn't bother us too much!

Beautiful location! Right next to one of the hiking trails leading to a waterfall. Friendly and professional staff. There is a lot of history in this place that’s very interesting. Surrounded by mountains and trees, a perfect place to hike and unwind. Breakfast was included and very nice, a lot of options.
Just a small tip for improvement — connect smart tv to wifi so Netflix can be used & Maybe a larger shower head. Also our door in the shower was stuck but we told reception and someone came to fix it straight away, great service!

Dog friendly, nice room, good breakfast, location near trekking paths, beautiful nature.
Cleaning could have been more thorough & only done on demand. Restaurant is quite pricey and not great.

The hotel has 2 buildings. We had a room in the new building and rooms were nice. Our TV was broken and staff was helpful to change the TV the same day. Good breakfast.
From the pictures, we were expecting a romantic black forest location. Forget it. The hotel is located close to a kind of highway which generates a lot of noise. To get away, you always need a car and you need to drive at least 10 min to the nearest village.

The property itself is great. The location fantastic in such a way that it’s a destination by itself also due to its historical importance. One can go for nice walks around the area.
Some rooms are not renovated and the furnitures are rather old, this is not to be noticed when booking. The renovated rooms are nice and makes the place worth staying at. Day receptionist can be more welcoming upon check in.

We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is at a great location deep in the forest and has a historical reputation which makes it very appealing. Some lovely short walks around with Beautiful views.
Food at the restaurant tasted good, good selection at the breakfast buffet. Free plenty parking available
The staff were 50/50. Some very polite and friendly some made you feel like they were doing you a favour. Although a 4 star it’s quite tired (at least our room was in the main building). The bed was too soft for my liking which gave me back pain and the room at the top floor was very dark as the roof canopy blocks most of the window to let any light in.

It was a very nice stay.
We would've liked a bit more variety for breakfast, such as yogurts, muesli, granola, fruit, etc.

The Fonduestube is a great place.
The hotel is rather on the average side. Main building appears a bit worn down. The staff and service in the main building is unconventional. Breakfast buffet is without any germ protection.

Great place. Will visit this hotel in the future for sure. This is the place where you want to return more and more. Pleasant staff ready to help immediately with any request. Tasty breakfasts. This place should be shown to the children. The hotel is situated in the heart of the Black Forest. There are several paths in the forest that will be super interesting for the children. We’ve received a great relax!

Large spread of buffet breakfast. Nicely spread out area. Outside seating also available. The yoghurts and cheese varieties were extraordinary. Bruno at the biergarten was excellent. Stephanie in the restaurant was so so friendly. Massive and beautiful Cuckoo clock.
The hotel was in the middle of nowhere. I am sure some of us prefer it that way. However, no trains or buses nearby and we spent a lot of cash on taxis to get to close by towns.
I totally understand that staff are here all the time and they are doing their job, but a bit more smile on the faces of the staff would be so nice, especially the male staff in the breakfast area and the female staff in the reception. They appear like they are doing their job under extreme duress, and not at all enjoying it.
One evening, I went and stood at the entrance to the restaurant. A really young, probably inexperienced waitress came to us and asked us if we had a reservation. I said no. Immediately she shook her head so vigorously from side to side and said they have no availability, I was worried that she could injure her neck. In fact, we weren't going to eat there at all. I was there waiting to meet someone else. Let me end this in a good way...Then came Stephanie, an epitome of kindness, calmness, confidence and friendliness. Amazing customer service from her.

Good room, clean and comfortable.
Check out experience. We had to leave by 6 am, and the lady at the front desk was not so happy about it. She said that checkout starts at 7 am. and that her systems are not ready. Obviously, she made us feel like we were wrong and should come back later, although we called the previous day to let the front desk know we were leaving early.

location and ridiculous price for a taxi into the nearest village.

location good, bedrooms adequate and comfortable, breakfast excellent but no toaster.
Attitude of a couple of restaurant staff, after a waiter spilt a complete drink over our friend, very little was done to help clean up ( even had to ask for more napkins to dry off ) after a change of clothes a fresh drink was delivered but not once did anyone apologise, the guy who dropped the drink looked a little inexperienced and embarrassed, we didn’t see a manager or anyone in authority to see how we were, for a four star hotel not really good enough. Although the food was good it did take a long time to arrive.

Location in the black forest was excellent. Hiking trails on site. Room was very large. The shops on site were fun to look through. Breakfast was over the top. They had everything. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, but it was $$$.
Some of the facilities were closed-- like the beer garden. My stay was off season, its not clear what things are open and what is not. The site is on a collection of shops and other buildings. its a little commercial, 4 bus loads of Viking river cruise people arrived the morning I left.
