Wow what a beautiful restoration!

The location was ace
This hotel felt like it had seen better days. The welcome was not warm. The bathroom’s plumbing leaked. For four star place it was disappointing.

Location and the abbaye.
Staff was very kind, breakfast was delicious.
One hotel at that level and price has to be perfect, in any detail. For instance, the toilet seat was broken and smaller than the toilette.

We stayed in the Abbaye for 2 nights and really enjoyed the special atmosphere of this former monastery. It is quiet and the air conditioning was very useful during this heatwave. We also enjoyed a fabulous breakfast served by very attentive staff. Unfortunately, we could not take advantage of the great cellar for a glass of wine as we had already done quite some winetastings during the day. Highly recommended!
Nothing! Having its own restaurant would have been nice, but there are so many excellent restaurants in Beaune that this is only a very small miss.

Beautiful property, beautiful room and lovely staff!
Really interesting architecture, very comfy beds!! Lovely pool! Nice selection of Clarins toiletries in the bathroom, and bath robes were provided.
Not great value for money… For the price, the room wasn’t as well kitted out as I would have expected. The shower head was broken in the bathroom. There was no luggage rack to set your suitcases, and nowhere to unpack except a very grand but oversized wardrobe. Excellent coffee machine but only 2 pods, and you had to pay if you wanted more.

Great building very historic
Stairs to the bedroom - 73 in total!

The historic common room is an excellent place to have an apéro in the evening, and breakfast in the morning. The pool is also a refreshing break from the heat outside. The modern bathrooms with spacious showers were a welcome surprise, but what stands out most about this property is the personable service that puts you at ease immediately. From chilling the wine we purchased for a nightcap, to helping us secure dinner reservations, the staff were helpful and easy to talk to. If we return, we will happily rebook at the Abbey.
The stairs in the tower were an excellent reminder to leave nothing in your room that you would need for the day. They are narrow and medieval, but at least help burn off calories from wine tasting.

Very cute restaurant. My room was great. The staff was very helpful.
Breakfast only at 8am and not able to get a prepared breakfast to take with you if you leave earlier for a hike or bike tour.

Beautiful place, expressing history!
Very nice room but not easy to reach with luggages when you are 65 , and no help …
Excellent breakfast with very nice ladies team
When you check in at 5 pm, you ring and you wonder if someone is coming. The door open, without a welcome word and disappear 6 steps below !! You don’t know what to do, you go down and still, ZERO welcome. Then you climb 2 level with your luggage and no help, even if proposed, not really willing to ….
For a 4 stars hotel, the check in conditions were simply unacceptable !

Room: The beds were very comfortable. The view on the rooftops and the cathedral is very pleasant. The bathroom is comfortable and stocked with good quality toiletries.
Hotel: The lounge is comfortable and a good place to enjoy a glass of wine.
Location: Cannot be closer to the city center.
Room: The room was on two level with a steep staircase in between. Although it's part of the charm of it, I wouldn't recommend it for people with knee issues. No complementary water provided.
Hotel: Apart from the lounge, the rest of the hotel does not necessarily gives off a distinct abbaye vibe. The corridors are of no particular interest and there is little to explore. Although it is not a major issue, at times, the furniture can be at odds with the mood of the place (there is a peculiar leopard chair I have in mind).
Location: Can be difficult to find a parking in the streets nearby but a larger parking is 5-10 minutes away.
Facilities: Apart from the lounge, the rest of the hotel does not necessarily gives off a distinct abbaye vibe. The corridors are of no particular interest and there is little to explore.

Great location in city centre of Beaune, in a historic building. Very friendly staff and owners !
No dedicated parking but public spots available very close to the hotel (around 9 €/day)

The location and the linen of the bed
I didn’t understand from pictures that there is no elevator. My luggage was very heavy. Yeas, the staff helped us but it’s so inconvenient and also for them it’s so hard to bring all these luggage back and forth every day. It should be written in capitals letters to come with small hand luggage otherwise take an other hotel.
To be not in the highest floor we rebooked a bigger room in 2nd floor. It’s an old building and honestly the size is bigger but the logics of the room organizing doesn’t exist. U do have more space but no sence how to use it.
Then for the third night we had to move to a smaller room. The first on ur right on second floor. And the smell from toilet was tremendous. And nothing u can do to ventilate it. Even few hours opened window didn’t help.
But the lady that speaks English at the reception was incredibly nice, positive, hard worker and really covered many uncomfortable points of the hotel.

This is such a beautiful hotel in a fabulous and wonderfully historic building which has been sympathetically restored. The location is wonderful, minutes away for the centre of Beaune. A real gem

This was my second stay at Abbaye de Maizières and I was very excited to share it with my family this time. The only one room that could accommodate all four of us was the suite "Saint Bruno", and it had two separate lofts, a common living area, and one bathroom. The view is wonderful of the rooftops and the cathedral.
The shower area is open, with no door and the bathroom would get very wet and messy after 4 showers. The bathtub is a jet tub and was not maintained or cleaned very well, there were parts falling off of it and it had an odor when the jets were engaged.

Beautiful! We were so delighted with everything about it. So cozy and inviting.

The building is beautiful/ in an old abbey. Very quirky. Nice restaurant for breakfast. Convenient location. We stayed in a junior suite which was very nice and comfortable.
We moved to a full suite the 2nd night since our original room was not available. The full suite was on the top floor - which required climbing 3 flights of very narrow & steep circular stairs . I think some older people will have difficulty with them. Also the bedrooms are upstairs - another flight of narrow and steep stairs- with the bathroom on the main floor - a flight down from the bedrooms.

Great location, beautiful property, wonderful staff. Very nice breakfasts, too!
I wish there was a little more art on the walls of the room. Keys were kind of difficult to use.

The property is well located. The renovation/conversion to a hotel was well done, but the most important reason is the wonderful employees that make you feel like you’re at home!
I will return!

Don’t like using the word ‘unique’ as it’s overused and therefore meaningless but this place is! Also impressed with the breakfast quality and the bed linen and towels. And receptionists - especially the blonde this morning who offered to post my letter AND use some Scotch on it! thank you!
nothing- though we thought a tapestry rug might have been more in keeping with the 12th century ambiance rather than an animal skin…..but that’s a personal thing.

Beautiful converted building, though some of the rooms would not be easy to access if one had mobility issues.

Beautiful building in a beautiful location.
The spiral stairs to access the second floor made getting our luggage to our room difficult.

Very atmospheric little hotel ; with entrance into a turreted stairwell down to a vaulted reception/bar/restaurant. The bed was so comfortable, crisp and white bed linen; the room felt (and was) clean and sumptuous. Luxurious Claris products in bathroom.
It was perfect for us.
There’s no parking, but on road parking is plentiful and cheap.
Was not aware of a lift and the stairwell is steep and spiral so may not suit everyone.

staying here was like staying in a medieval castle. the lobby was amazing. The room was a mixture of old world charm and modern amenities. the sheets were the softest I have ever slept on.
the stairs were a challenge but the view and room made it worth the hike. just needed to make sure you got everything you needed when leaving for the day.
