Barceló Maya Tropical - All Inclusive

Big hotel, nice beach, nice entertainment.

Food quality and taste is mediocre (not for a 5-star hotel). Some staff is not very nice (they seem mad) and most of all they are not flexible and are not problem Solvers. For example, not allowing for a big family to sit in tables next to each other at the restaurant (when the restaurant is half empty). To make us stand up in the middle of the dinner to change restaurant because they will close (when it was still in the opening hours: 21h) .

Staff at the Beach's buffet were excellent, and so were the staff at the Kids Club (which they call Barcy Club). Food at the buffets and snack bars were both great, with lots of options, including dedicated vegetarian areas. Even without paying for extras, there are many places to explore across the 4 middle resorts! My kids and I were also very intrigued by the wildlife, which is well-documented, and there are tons of birds and iguanas that share the space with all of these random humans. Lastly, there are 3-4 cenotes just across the main highway from the resort, with Cenote Azul being a very cost-effective option. These can easily be walked to by adults & teens, or it's a short taxi ride with little ones.

We had booked for the Maya Tropical, but found out quite early that we wouldn't be guaranteed to stay there, so this was not necessarily a surprise. That said, it wasn't communicated beforehand which resort we would be staying at. We booked a private shuttle through the resort, and the representative at CUN told our shuttle driver we were going to the Beach. So if you want to know EXACTLY which of the 4 hotels you'll be at, it is worth reaching out, but they may not know until 1-2 days before your stay.

This resort beautiful! The beach is amazing, with the coral reef for snorkeling and lots of beautiful palm trees. I love the nature and wildlife, and the grounds are immaculate. It feels like you’re at home in a small village. The food and staff were great. The rooms were comfortable and smelled fresh. We upgraded to premium and loved the proximity to the beach and the view from the balcony. The water at the beach was so warm, and the kids had a blast at the waterpark too (free waterpark). This is our second time at this resort and we will definitely be back! It was sad to leave.

We went to the pay extra pirate waterpark too, but were disappointed and found it overly expensive for what you get.

Very clean and staff was amazing

Check in took a while. Rooms were very old and no lotion in room. Seemed to be understaff because the ones that were there were working very hard.
