fairly average stay in a dated hotel

The hotel is clearly dated, and while it has everything you’d expect, it really needs a refresh. We also had a few issues: the safe didn’t work, and we later noticed there was no toilet brush in the bathroom. The hotel Wi-Fi didn’t work for us either, which is a big downside at this price point. It’s also worth checking what the hotel means by “free toiletries” — in practice, you may find there’s no shower cap, cotton buds, or cotton pads, and you end up having to buy them in town. Would I recommend this hotel to friends? Probably not. To be fair, the breakfast was very good.

The beds, even being the normal double ones, where comfy as usual. There was a small area for children to play which was appreciated and used a couple of times. The room was supposed to be free at 4 pm as per check in hours ( something that I find extremely late, and the fact that they are suppose to charge £40 extra if you want to make it earlier, doesn’t help at all), but thanks fully it was ready for us at 12, much closer to a normal check in hour. Breakfast is nice. Overall a pleasant stay.

Our room did not have fridge ( even if empty, at least to keep refrigerated some drinks or food). It didn’t have a normal bin for trash other than the tiny one in the bathroom ( which clearly is not for all kinds of trash). The bathroom in reception needed cleaning. There was not an area in the reception to sit with computers to work or study or do whatever as the downstairs area is a restaurant so you need to consume to sit there. It kind of didn’t look like was a Hilton hotel. We always choose Hilton because used to have the same standards worldwide but I’m not dwelling that anymore, or at least not in the UK.

Waited a long time before concierge arrived, took longer to get car parking space and a queue of cars were lining up outside. Booked room for four adults; had enough conditioner for only one person, only two mugs and only two each of hot chocolate & tea bags. For the expensive cost of one night, it felt like a budget hotel.

Disappointing Stay Due to Unprofessional service

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with my wife and unfortunately it was the worst experience I’ve ever had in a hotel. The staff was extremely unprofessional. One day, while I was sleeping, a lobby waiter called my room and woke me up to ask if I had taken a tea downstairs. I told him no, but it could have been my wife and that it was not a problem. However, he insisted that I had to come down immediately to sign the receipt or that he would come up to the room. This was completely inappropriate and unacceptable, especially to wake guests up for something like this. When I went downstairs (already upset), I told him that this is not the right way to handle a small charge and that guests should not be disturbed like that. Later that evening, when I returned, I saw the same waiter pointing at me and telling other staff that I was the guest who had “scolded” him. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. The next day I asked to speak with a manager and I was directed to a woman named Ellen, who was supposedly the person in charge that day. Instead of apologizing or handling the situation professionally, she defended the waiter and said he only called to make sure the payment was collected. That response made the situation even worse, so I ended the conversation and left. Overall, the service was poor, the attitude was disrespectful, and the management response was disappointing. I do not recommend this hotel.

The breakfast lounge is dark, it would benefit from some better lighting. The bath is completely open, when you shower you inevitably splash water on the floor.

Great location..nice hotel food..the room was very disappointing..for £400(2 nights) i expected a lot more..ie mini bar..bigger bathroom.bigger room..was like staying in a premier inn room but cleaner..the heating in the room didnt work either..but the maintenance guy did provide us with 2 small portable radiators

Poor quality, neglected room, hidden charges and inconsistent policy application.

The quality of food was good and the central location was also good.

My stay at this Hilton left me genuinely disappointed. For a room costing over £200 per night, the entire experience felt cheap, neglected, and padded with hidden extras — more like a budget airline upsell model than a premium hotel. £30 car parking charges for an overnight stay. There was a complete lack of issue ownership, sympathy and compassion. We won't be using the Hilton chain in future.

Checkin starts at 4pm which is late. But we got early checkin at 12pm. Close to train station, 15min walk. Location in city centre. Comfy beds and pillows. Good water pressure. Polite staff. Hair dryer available.

Wonderfully central location with excellent valet parking option.

It felt quite functional for a Hilton. The conditioner in the bathroom was completely empty, no extra blankets or pillows.

Nice, but fairly basic for stars and price.

The staff were friendly and helpful and accommodating. It’s an excellent location. Reasonable breakfast and they easily catered for my special diet, on the day we ate there. Tea, coffee etc in the room (coffee bags which is a reasonable alternative to a machine). Cans of water are left in the room for you. They weren’t replenished on the 3rd day. I’d not opened mine, but my husband had used his.

We didn’t report it, but couldn’t get the heating to work, so it was quite cold in our room. It wasn’t too important to us, but it’s advertised as having access to YouTube on the TV, fils etc. there was no internet on the tv, so it wasn’t a smart tv. There was an Ethernet cable which had been pushed into a hole at the bottom of the TV. The TV was fixed to the wall, so there was no way of accessing the panel to plug it in properly. I found the bed very uncomfortable, personally. As a 4star hotel I’d expect more in the room. There’s no fridge or mini bar. Nice, but felt basic for the price and star value.
