Hit and miss stay

Nice to be on a small island.

Hotel had two parties while we were there and only other hotel had one party so not quiet. Hotel breakfast buffet okay, but dinner food horrible and there is little choice where to have dinner as the island shuts at 5pm! Erika who was front of house was appallingly rude during our stay. Unfriendly, never spoke and when we asked for a small cup of milk so we could make tea gave an eyeroll of Oscar winner performance. Everyone else friendly and helpful. Would i go back. Sorry but no.

Amazing lake views and great location

Fantastic location on the island with stunning views over the lake from the lake view room. We had two different room types and would definitely recommend the lake view room over the city view room which was (understandably, given the narrow alleyways) very dark and a lot smaller. Lovely views from breakfast as well.

The place is intriguing and perfect for anyone who is looking for something different. The island is a few minutes from the town of Stresa and accessible only by boat, making it the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle. The restaurant overlooking Lake Maggiore was lovely.

Happy, comfortable and efficient

Stayed there for my parent's 50th anniversary and could not have been better, the team was already very supportive during preparation and delivered accordingly, everybody had a great time and left with amazing memories.

I have stayed here many times and love the position, on the lake, magical and beautiful. the rooms are lovely, clean and fresh, the lake views are spectacular. Breakfast was good and fresh. It is a very special hotel but it is better if you are an independent traveller.

The beds were not very comfy, (I think maybe they have new beds) but the room was gorgeous. There is no service tea, coffee or drinks service ( kettle in the room with tea and coffee) until dinner time. I wanted to come back later in the summer to a specific room. I established it was free for 5 nights and had to book in writing by email at the reception desk. I was disappointed two days later on my return home, to be told I had to reconfirm at the end of June, as it was suddenly on hold for someone else! It is easier to just book with Bookings as the hotel is tricky to book directly with!

The location was just amazing. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Our room was very clean with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was great, especially the enormous shower. The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we have ever had, with a very large food range. The restaurant was excellent and had lovely views. All in all a great hotel that we would definitely recommend.

the air conditioning and a spacious room albeit with very low ceilings in places

Firstly do not believe the beachfront description, it has a waterfront but the lake can only be accessed via a stretch of worn rubble (not stoney or pebbly) or a very high concrete jetty, so no swimming for us. The staff were extremely offhand when we arrived and throughout, they didn’t even tell us which floor our room was on let alone show us the way, it had a name so we had no clue from a number… we just had to check each floor, of course it was on the top floor. They left our passports on the front desk which was not always manned and not secure. Pretty much a nil on hospitality for hotel guests. Breakfast was good food wise but you had to sit outside on the terrace which was thronged by sparrows so you could not leave your plate unattended. The spacious bathroom was fabulous with a large clear glass window affording a roof top view but, as it had no curtain, the rooftop balcony on a nearby building had a great view into the bathroom. Location wise the island is lovely but eating out in the evening is very limited without going over to the town by water taxi, very expensive restaurants open only whereas there were more options during the day. Really did not live up to my expectations, so we changed our plans and left a day early.
