The property is centrally located so you can reach lots of places to eat & drink on foot. It's also possible to reach one or two wineries and a gin distillery on foot if you don't mind a walk of up to 20 minutes. The house is big, it has a lounge and dinning room, 3 bedrooms; two bedrooms and one of the bathrooms were large and there is room for a table for 6 in the garden/terrace area
For exploring the area it's a good base and there is a lot to see in this area in addition to the many wineries such as the Alqueva lake, the hilltop town of Monsaraz and a couple of dark sky observatories
The second bathroom has direct access from the loft room which has a double sofa bed in it, no door or screening of any sort, the loft room itself has quite a low ceiling. Overall we felt that the house has too many decorative things in it, nic-nacs, ornaments etc so it felt cluttered and a little dark

The property is a beautiful old house which is very tastefully finished. Would be a good place to stay in warmer months.
The house, apart from the bedroom was very, very cold. Our bedroom had a wall heater which worked well but the rest of the house was so cold we had to stay in full outdoor clothing including jackets and wooly hats. There was a small portable heater but it wasn't very effective.
Also, the mattress was not comfortable, with very little support, although I'm aware that this is to personal taste. The pillows were very small.

The Owner was very kind from the days before until the end of the stay. The fireplace is perfect to stay a long evening or night and in our case the best place to feel at home in the End of the Year. Perfect place to stay to rest with family or with friends. Wi-fi was good all the time.
The people of Alentejo wake up early in the morning and in the main bedroom you can hear some noise from outside.

Lovely place but a little cold this time of year - March. No heating in common areas and upper room.
Lack of heating outside of two bedrooms.
