Rio Hotel

Justin, one of the receptionists was super helpful. Ha gave me all the tips to get to the Chimborazo volcano by myself. He was excellent. The location was good and so it was the breakfast. Everything else was just average. But what I loved the most was the views it offers to the volcano.

The hot water takes ages to come out. So if you want to take a warm water shower, you must open the tap about 10 minutes in advance. And then even when it comes out it’s not hot enough. It’s just slightly warm. This is a bit inconvenient as it’s a mountainous city. They should work this out. The other thing not too good is that I could hear the people in the room upstairs, which made me lose a bit of sleep time.

A very nice, charming hotel in the heart of Riobamba and centrally located between the multiple "parques (parks)" and markets. This was a first for me, but the hotel is fully staffed with "all male" employees, who were very friendly, accommodating, respectful, and customer service driven. The free breakfasts were excellent and filling during my 4-night stay. The accommodations were above average but could be better. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying at Rio Hotel if you're ever in Riobamba. Just make sure you don't mistake this hotel for a similarly named one (Hotel Rio). Just looking at the scary facade of the other hotel will make you think twice and know that you're at the wrong hotel.

Maybe someone to stay and welcome guests at the reception stand? There were times when no one was at the reception and it felt very unsafe; as if anyone can simply walk in the hotel, go to rooms and rob the guest of their belongings. Just something to think about.
