About this apartment rental
Our condo is a quick trip from the Cancun International Airport (CUN) to a fun ferry ride from Puerta Juarez (Grand Puerto) to the island, Isla Mujeres. Puerta al Mar is a 5-story, 27-unit condominium complex located on the exclusive Sac Bajo section of Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
Our luxurious 2-level penthouse is unit No. 501 and offers a private, outdoor rooftop paradise with an outdoor cooking and dining area. The rooftop also has a plunge pool, a sitting area, as well as a full bath with shower. It provides our special guests with privacy and incredible views of the Caribbean, the island, and Cancun.
On the first level, the condo contains three bedrooms, two baths, a full kitchen, a washer and a dryer. The third bedroom has bunk beds. The living room opens up to a fantastic view of the Bay of Mujeres and Cancun. The kitchen is fully equipped with a wine cooler and many other amenities. We offer Smart TV in the living room, master and second bedroom. We also have our own Wi-Fi in the condo in addition to Wi-Fi in the common areas of the complex, including the beach!
The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, flat-screen TV, a private bath/closet, a safe, and a private balcony. Our second bedroom has a queen-sized bed, TV, and balcony.
At ground level there is a common, very large pool with a swim up bar located next to the beach. There is also a sauna and a newly equipped exercise and weight room for adults. WiFi can even be found at the pool and beach if needed. We have our own dock in the bay for day excursion pick-ups and drop-offs.
Our condo is a fun, short 15-minute golf cart ride to downtown and North Beach. There are so many new restaurants to try, but we have marked our favorite ones on a map we leave at the condo.

We had an amazing stay at Puerta al Mar! The condo was large, clean, nicely decorated, and beautifully situated in Sac Bajo, a quiet part of the island. The rooftop area was phenomenal with panoramic views of the island and Cancun in the distance. We enjoyed the pool, the hot tub, and the workout room. We like to bake, and I didn't see an oven listed in the description, but there is a nice oven in the kitchen. We had plenty of plates, bowls, cups, glasses, pots and pans, but there was only one large bowl and one serving platter. (No mixing bowls, only incomplete sets of measuring spoons and cups, etc.) Surprisingly the knives were plentiful and sharp! (A rare find in a vacation rental.) The staircase to the roof is located in the bedroom with the bunk beds, so be sure to assign rooms with this in mind. Also, the beach is beautiful, but the ocean floor is sea grass, so be sure to pack your water shoes or booties if you're planning to swim. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance of the condo, far more than I was able to find out about prior to our arrival. The public bus stops right in front of the condo and is cheap and reliable. Taxis can almost always be found right outside. I would definitely go back again!

I stayed at this location with 4 friends. We were impressed with the cleanliness, comfortable beds, and included amenities. One of the TVs was a Roku so we were able to watch some tv, if we wanted. The place really is big and has tons of balconies. The private pool area on the roof was our favorite hangout spot during our trip.
The community pool, gym and private beach area were all great and also very clean. Towels were also available and that was really great!
We were disappointed that most fans and air conditioners didn't work, so our stay was very hot and a little uncomfortable when we were trying to sleep. Luckily we didn't plan to stay indoors often, so it didn't bother us all that much.
We also had an issue during our first evening, when we came back to the property and the gates were closed and locked. We weren't aware they locked at midnight. To get inside, we had to go to the hotel next door, where they let us walk through and we went inside through the beachside entrance. The security guard wasn't thrilled but we had rang the bell and stood outside for almost 20 mins.
Other than those small hiccups, it was a really great experience and we all agreed we would stay here again. Overall, the experience was really good.

Really everything is great about this property except the living room furniture is very worn. It needs new, firm cushions. The master comforter needs to be replaced as it is so slick it slides off the bed always. Other than that, the condo is great. The cable was out during our stay, but I was told a line had been cut nearby.

We’ve stayed at Isla many times and this place is great. Amazing views from the rooftop patio. The condo was clean and had the fridge/ice maker hooked up to clean/drinkable water which was a plus. The beach and pool were great and the complex was basically empty the whole time we were there this time of year. The pool was very big and there wasn’t anyone outside of our group in it while we were in it. It’s in a quiet part of Isla and is a bit of a drive from downtown, but that is part of the reason we liked it. If you want a quiet place away from the traffic and crowds of Isla, this is a perfect spot. We’ll stay here again.
