I love everything about MaoMao. The accommodation is perfect and the staff members are so welcoming and will do everything they can to make our stay amazing! The food at the MaoMao cafe is delicious. The pancakes and salted caramel latte are to die for and became a daily ritual! The family vibe that has been created here is really special, I have traveled a lot and there’s not many places that have the same vibe and energy. The surf instructors are so fun and passionate about what they do. They are the perfect level of crazy, fun and determined to help you improve your surfing! The pool are is stunning and the perfect place to chill and relax after a surf. The owners Cara and Marco are honestly the nicest people on the planet. I really feel like I have a new family here and I can’t wait to be back in Siargao.

This place is perfect!

Mao Mao Surf is so much more than a place to stay—it feels like family. The staff are the kindest, most genuine people and go above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome. They made my birthday so incredibly special and I can’t thank them enough. The rooms are spotless, beautifully maintained, and the whole place has such a relaxed, happy vibe. Every day we’d end up hanging out together because it just feels like home. The food is amazing (the banana pancakes are a must!), the surf coaching is fantastic, and the locals who work here are the heart and soul of this place. I arrived as a guest and left feeling like part of the family.

Absolutely nothing. The only downside was having to leave.

It’s a good surf camp. Breakfast options are great. Staff is amazing. We enjoyed dipping in the pool after a long tiring day. The shower (bamboo faucet) has a heater.

1. The bed was too small for two people, especially given Siargao’s heat and humidity. Without air-conditioning, sleeping comfortably was difficult. 2. The water pressure was weak. 3. At night, we could constantly hear animals or insects scratching inside the walls and roof. It also seemed like termites had already started damaging the wooden roof supports, as we would regularly find wood dust falling onto the toilet every morning. 4. The neighboring hostel was extremely noisy and hosted parties almost every night, which made it hard to rest. 5. The Wi-Fi connection did not reach the room at all. We had to stay outside or in the shared common area just to access the internet, which was especially inconvenient since we rely on stable Wi-Fi for work. 6. There is an awful smell coming from somewhere at night… can be the sewage but it was really bad.
