About this cottage rental

Bakery Cottage was built in the early 1920's by the Feist family who were the local bakers. She (definitely a she) is enchanting with polished wood floors and native timber wall sarking. Ideal for 2 couples to soak up her undeniable charm, chill out and enjoy all that beautiful Doubtless Bay has to offer. Start the day with a cup of tea on the verandah and enjoy the harbour view. Take a short walk to one of the cafes for breakfast and browse the shops, including the Flax Bush located next door. Spend the day at one of the numerous Doubtless Bay beaches within easy drive. End the day with a cocktail on the verandah followed by a bbq in the private courtyard at the rear of the cottage or walk to the Fish and Chip shop for dinner. Mangonui is an ideal place to stay if you are planning to visit Cape Reinga, its a day trip to the Cape and the evening can be spent at one of the numerous eateries. November 2020 in consultation with interior designer Kelly Ritchie the cottage was renovated. There is a new heritage style kitchen and bathroom with luxe vintage fittings. The living areas and bedrooms have been freshened and furnished to a high standard with beautiful local art. The courtyard has been revamped and is a cosy, private space, to gather in the cool during those hot Northland summer days.

Pams lovely little cottage was such a treat to stay at! Beautifully designed and styled and with the morning view across the water, it was the perfect little getaway. We loved the pictures of the homes history and strolling along the boardwalk to the local cafes. It will be our first pick when we are back in Mangōnui

The Old Bakery Cottage is beautifully renovated, close to all amenities and a comfortable place to stay. The view from the front over cable bay is stunning! Unfortunately the weather was truly awful wet and windy - until the day we left. Easy communication, clear check in instructions and the cottage is absolutely BEAUTIFUL.It's been done in keeping with the era of it's time, and no expense spared on the fittings and decor. It was warm, Cody and the proximity to the water is fabulous. The sunrise was amazing. I absolutely loved my stay and cannot wait to come back again. The Old Bakery Cottage is simply delightful. It's a very beautiful little cottage that is superbly furnished and fitted out for a perfect few days stay. It could feature in 'House and Garden' as it's so perfectly decorated.It was lovely to meet Pam the property manager who was so welcoming, and very easy to contact for any queries we might have. We loved our two days at the cottage and could have happily stayed a few more days. 10/10 for sure. :)

From the moment we stepped into the old bakery we felt at home. Location was fantastic especially since the new boardwalk to the pub and shops etc.Extremely comfy beds, quality linen and kitchen very well equipped. Shower and bathroom nice and modern.Pam was on hand with any queries and the property manual was extremely helpful for wifi, rubbish, washing etc. Did I mention the patio views across the harbour.We really loved our stay, thanks.

Stayed here last year which is why i was happy to find it available again for my northland holiday this time. I love this gorgeous cottage. Lovely, right down to its owner. Pam is an absolutely amazing host. The very best. Location is unbetable. Close to town but not right in it, a short picturesque board walk al9ng the shore front sees you into the shopping area. Manonui is a unique place to stay I really love being there. Only issue a microwave would be useful and spiderwebs on light in sitting room. I would love to come back again.

Pam’s place was perfect for our short stay near Cooper’s Beach. The indoor and outdoor space are both amazing. The view of the water is so peaceful and calming. Walking distance to excellent eateries and quaint little shops, and a short drive to the beach. Pam was very helpful and very prompt responding to our questions.

Hi Pam. Your cottage is lovely and has a magnificent vibe. Alan and I and Vicki, a good friend visiting from Vietnam, enjoyed the view out over the harbour (indeed quite inspirational for me, since I'm a composer and used the occasion to sit in the sun room and finish a score). We had the most amazing stay - the property was absolutely beautiful, well equipped and in such a wonderful location. Easy walk to cafes and restaurants, right across the road from the water and the perfect place just to sit outside, relax and enjoy the view.
