Excellent location, set in the hills overlooking the ocean, well up from the main road so all we could hear from our terrace were the rolling waves of the sea. Stunning views, quiet and peaceful, staff were polite and kind. It was very clean and comfortable and felt good value compared to other hotels nearby. We were looking for somewhere quiet where we could feel relaxed, and this exceeded our expectations, so much so that we extended our stay.
I would just warn that the walk up the hill to the retreat is steep and less suited to those who are elderly or have reduced mobility, but it is totally worth it for the spectacular views and quiet environment.

Amazing location with stunning views and beautiful rooms. I wish I’d had more time there. So lucky to have been able to start the day catching sunrise and then to be able to follow up with a swim in the pool or to use the yoga room. All topped off by nice staff and friendly owners.

Pool has just been refurbished and was filled while we were there. Beautiful memorable place for a swim. High up a hill so wonderful views among beautiful plants and eagles. Great architecture - the pics online don’t do it justice. Delicious varied breakfasts. Christa was lovely and helpful booking taxis etc
Our room was warm at night so be prepared! The cool shower was ok as it was very warm when we were there so found it refreshing after a walk up the hill.
It is a steep walk up but we managed. Wear trainers rather than flip flops!

I had a great time at Zazil retreat. I especially enjoyed the big pool to relax and the hammocks were a great touch as well. Breakfast was delicious and plenty. The hostess Christa and the workers there were very attentive and helpful with anything I might need. Any concerns I had were adressed immediately and I was offered different options to find a solution that works for me. The walk to the beach and then back up might be a bit steep for some but I didn’t really mind, it was definitely worth it for the views from the bungalows.
There was no hot water, which wasn’t too bad since it was rather warm during my stay. The lights in the rooms could be a bit brighter.

Sleeping with the ocean waves in the background and waking up with a fantastic view of the sea - Zazil is like a little piece of paradise on earth. While the drive to the retreat is steep, the reward is a peaceful location far off all noise and with a spectacular view.
The beach is within a 10 minute walk and way less crowded than in Puerto Escondido or even Mazunte. Christa was a fantastic host with a unique mix of Mexican hospitality and gruff North German humour, which we thoroughly enjoyed. She gave us fantastic recommendations and even took us to Agua Blanca, which is a secret spot where we had the beach practically for ourselves. All in all, it felt like being part of the family.
Nothing, we loved it!

The views, the breeze, the esthetic of the place, my room which felt like a little nest above the world!
My only criticism is that the pool was dirty and seemed forgotten - but they had it cleaned as soon as I mentioned it and I’m told they’re renovating it this summer!

The setting was a dream

The view is spectacular, the rooms are perfect, no windows, well protected from insects, Mexican coast design style. Huge bathroom and everything works perfectly. You can have a delicious (simple) breakfast with the most wonderful view, chill at the pool, do yoga or meditation, there are perfect corners for everything. Beach is close, but you can't really walk because it is quite mountainous.
If you're out after 23h you need to let the guard know because the dogs are dangerous.

we recently stayed at Zazil retreat with an incredible view and stunning architecture, and I was thoroughly impressed with my experience. From the moment we arrived, the lovely host Christa greeted us with warmth and made me feel right at home. The hotel itself is a true masterpiece of design, with intricate details and beautiful touches that added to the overall ambiance.
But perhaps the best part of my stay was the breathtaking view from my room. I woke up every morning to stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape, and the sunset was an absolute dream to watch from my balcony. And what's even better is that this hotel offers amazing value for the price - I couldn't believe how affordable my stay was given the quality of the accommodations and service. And the breakfast with that view is just unbelievable!
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and affordable getaway in Mexico. The stunning architecture and incredible views make for an unforgettable experience, and the lovely host woman is truly one of a kind. I can't wait to return and soak in more of the beauty and tranquility of this amazing hotel.
love it all

Amazing views, beautiful hotel with the most beautiful rooms in which you fall asleep to the sound of the waves. Delicious breakfast.
Gracias por todo Tita!

We had a wonderful stay at Zazi. In fact it was even better than the pictures suggested, with a spacious, clean bungalow, including a terrace with an incredible sea view, an amazing Yoga area and a big pool. There is really all you need on this hill, but beautiful beaches of St Agustinillo are also in walking distance. The little walk up to Zazil from the beach takes about 10 minutes and is totally worth it, allowing to have space, that most places directly at the beach lack. The breakfast was just what we needed, with fresh fruits and coffee every morning and if you want to treat yourself you can even have exquisite dinner or lunch there served by the super nice staff of Zazil. We recommend everyone a stay at this special place!

Amazing shower (cold, but you’ll want that!), good mosquito nets, breakfast is great (coffee, bread, yoghurt, fruit), drinking water jugs in the room each day, stunning views
It’s a very steep walk up and down to the road so wouldn’t suit some. Pool area not that nice. Oh and there isn’t yoga on site despite the picture!

The continental breakfast which was included was perfect for me since I enjoy fresh fruit, bread snd butter and above all good strong coffee.

Beautiful place. Friendly eccentric owners.
The dogs barking at night running behind the villas was my least favorite part of the experience. It was hard to get an undisturbed sleep.

absolutely amazing views, lovely and quiet jungle-like at night.
the staff were all helpful and welcoming.
be aware there is a steep hill to get up to the hostel, more than worth it for the views though!
the pool was a little dirty when we got in the first time.

The location and the place is simply magnificent. Just 6min from the main road and beach (Google maps show 15min, its wrong)
It's a steep hill but very short walk.
We got Jaguar room. The bed is big and very comfy. It has a mosquito net. You have a cinema like window with no glass but huge mosquito net for a view and fresh cool breeze. The is no AC only ventilator of needed. But you get the breeze from that huge window/ wall. That's all in alignment with eco hotel.
The shower room is a nearly a separate round room with natural bamboo shower head.
The furniture made of full wood pieces was so beautiful.
You have a private huge balcony / terrace with 2 hammocks.
The breakfast was very tasty. Fresh fruit, fresh bread, jam included. We paid separately for omelette and out was tasty.
The pool was amazing.
The yoga room is a special mention. And at 8.30 there was a class.

I enjoyed my stay here, and even extended it - the location and premises are beautiful.
I think the description of the hotel does not fully convey how hard it is to reach (on foot) despite its relatively close location to the beach/main street - I have difficulties imagining anyone with any type of diability, or older person, being able to climb the steep hill on which it is located (and not the most pleasant walk at night for solo female travelers). A taxi might be willing to take you, but they are few and far inbetween (unless pre-booked). The WiFi did not reach the bungalow at all - maybe not an issue on a holiday in such a beautiful surrounding, but then it shouldn't be advertised. The pool pump seemed to be out of order/not turned on, and the water was stagnant. All this considered, the price point is on the steep side.

We really enjoyed our stay at Zazil. The rooms are very big, very well decorated, very clean, the bed was really perfect, the views are incredible/unique. Everything is done to make sure you relax a 100 pct: views from our room, yoga lectures, massage etc. (for a couple of extra pesos), calm swimming pool with a view. We really appreciated the company of Christa, the owner, which was always very available, kind and helpful (organising activities like whale watching etc.). The WIFI in the rooms wasn't always working but was great around the pool and in common areas. It's a 10 min walk from the beach, you have to go up a hill but it is doable (always nicer if you have your own car of course).
Nothing, we loved the place. Great price/quality ratio.
