Disappointing Stay

Kitchen had the essentials, good location

We were incredibly disappointed with the condition of the property during our stay. Upon arrival, the beds were visibly dirty, and the pull-out bed in the living room had noticeable yellow stains, with clumps of hairs around the floor. The kitchen was dusty. To make matters worse, we saw rats around the building, which made us feel unsafe and uncomfortable. Additionally, the microwave was dirty, with what appeared to be curry splashes inside, and the plates were greasy. This meant I had to spend the first night washing pots and dishes just so we could use them during our stay. This was both inconvenient and frustrating. The listing also advertised that Bedroom 1 would have two single beds and a king-size bed. However, this was misleading, as there were simply two single beds pushed together to create the appearance of a king-size bed. This was not what we were expecting based on the advertisement. While we appreciate that people have different standards of cleanliness, this property did not meet our expectations in any way. We expect basic hygiene and comfort when booking accommodations, and unfortunately, this was not the case here. On the first night, we were unable to reach Joe, so we submitted a complaint to Booking.com. The following day, we received a call from Joe claiming he had inspected the property (without informing us beforehand, which we felt was an invasion of privacy) and stated that the property was not dirty, citing video evidence from his cleaners. He also accused us of leaving clothes, pots, and shopping around the property. However, our stay was still ongoing, and naturally, we had personal items out during that time. Despite the unsatisfactory conditions, we were unable to get a refund for the remainder of our trip. This left us with no choice but to continue our stay, as we had already paid and were unable to book elsewhere on short notice. We hope this feedback is taken seriously, as the experience was far below our standards

Very spacious & comfortable

VERY spacious & comfortable. Clean & well maintained. Well equipped with kitchen & utility appliances, etc. Manager very responsive to requests / questions.

Not a major concern, but: flooring in hall and bath were not professionally installed: uneven, squeeky and not accurately cut to fit.

Very good stay for the price I paid

The location, and ease of access to places I wanted to go was great. Flat was very organised and spacious and I loved being able to have the Telly and have access to netflix. Also loved the kitchen and a washer-dryer (althoufh I didn't use the latter much). I loved that I didn't have to rely on takeout for my meals. Also host was very responsive and quick to reply to me when I had trouble with the radiators.

the strip of wood on the floor dirrectly under where the door shuts between the corridor and living room, I stepped on it when walking between rooms and it cracked and kind of came loose. And it was loose to the point I thought I'd trip over it, so I had to move it to one side. Easily fixable though. I also wish there were instructions on how to work the boiler, because the host was very helpful when I called but perhaps an instruction paper about which dial to turn the boiler on for the radiators.

Would be better in summer, definitely not aplace for a winter break.

The flat was in a good location for what I wanted. Near to Great Western Auction rooms. A mere five minutes walk. The take away food in the area is some of the best that I have eaten.

The flat would be good in the summer months when you would not need the heating for the rooms. The heating did not take the chill off the rooms, when it was occasionally on, when I visited this property. The communal door did not close properly so security is an issue, the parking on the main road was impossible. The shower was a bit more than tepid. The first mug I picked up was filthy and had a ring of old coffee in the bottom. The double glazing let in a draught and did not stop the noise from the very busy road.
