Golden Bell Backpacker Hostel

Reasonably priced and comfortable accommodation in a good location. The room was well appointed, with a massive bed, sofa and fun hanging chair. The decor was fun and cozy and it was great to have a kettle in the room. There's a regular market just down the road and you can easily cycle to Tràng An and Tam Cốc.

The kitchen situation was a little odd. It seemed like it was mostly used by the owners/staff, but a shared kitchen was advertised and when we asked where it was, they pointed it out to us. However there were beds in the room and the actual cooking area was too small for more than one person to comfortably cook at once. It felt a bit awkward when the hosts were there, like we were intruding on their space, and was just odd vibes. Also the locks on our bedroom and the toilet on the top floor were not great, it took us until the second night to figure out that we just needed to try harder to get them to lock!

The hotel is close to everything; we were able to rent bikes, visit the night market, and go to the rice paddies. They also helped us find a night bus, which made our journey to our destination much easier.

Good value for cost, accommodating, provided towel, toothbrush and some toiletries and shoe off policy, soft pillow and had hot running water

So it seems that the owners live in the lobby of the hostel including a toddler who was adorable however screamed solid from 6-11pm and then again between 630-8am I don’t even understand how that was possible but that kids got lungs of steel other than that it is on a quiet street with barely any foot traffic and room are very stuffy and filled with heavy air no ventilation woke up with a very sore throat seemed to clear up when I checked out and was able to get some fresh air, also Asian style mattresses so don’t expect any cushion but pillow was nice and soft
