We left with very mixed feelings. On one hand, we loved the private garden, most of the kitchen, and the spacious premises. On the other hand, we had a few very bad surprises that we did not appreciate, and the communication was poor.
1. On the day of our arrival, we came at 16h45 (self checkin is possible from 16h00), and to our surprise, a truck parked in front of the villa and 2 men went in. We were shocked. We picked up a key and went to see who these people were. They explained that they were plumbers and that there was an issue with the toillets that were clogged. These guys had a spare key to the house and could come and go like this. We could have checked in at 16h00 and would go for a walk in town. Our things would be there with a third party present and NO notification from the owner. Is that alright?
2. The owen is old and not exactly easy to use. The laundry room was not stocked with any wahing liquid (or similar). There was no iron. When we asked about it before coming, we received no reply. The furniture is old and practically falling apart in some places.
3. On the last day of our stay, the toilets got clogged again. Keep in mind that we did not do anything to clog them. We were very careful to throw only toilet paper as it said on a notice in the toilet. So, this must be the same issue from before we arrived. We did send a message about it to the owner, but got no reply.
4. We could be wrong, but it seemed like all messgaes we received from the owner were the templates prepared beforehad. None of our questions or comments got a real response.
5. There were cameras on site. One outside and one inside (ot was pointed to the entrance and the kitchen door). This is not ok. We do not know if these were working cameras or not. But if we knew there were cameras on site, that would definitely impact our decision to make a reservation. Are the owners aware of laws regarding the rights to image and consent for filming ? Not that we were doing anything weird or out of place, but the idea of being watched made us uncomfortable.

This charming little house on the hill in Trouville has been a great surprise. Every single detail, every single piece of furniture in the house shows a great deal of thinking and planning, with a great combination of functionality and aesthetics. The checking / checkout process was also super smooth, and the landlord very responsive to our inquires.
