Apologies for the delay in leaving a review - we had travelled to Italy for a secret wedding, and are only now free to share the details on our social media etc! We had an amazing stay at La Lampara, could not rate the apartment and location highly enough. La Lampara was certainly one of the more expensive options we considered in Manarola and booking it was a rather spendy treat to ourselves, but no regrets! It was 100% worth the cost for the secluded location, and that gorgeous private terrace and sea view! We would have no hesitation in booking again, when we next visit Cinque Terre! + Just a short walk from the train station and Manarola main town, but it felt much more peaceful and secluded. + Great step-by-step directions provided by the property management company beforehand, made it easy to find. + Contactless check-in was very straightforward. Code for the lock box was provided earlier that morning, super smooth process. + Friendly locals - shout out to Mario and his bellissimo gatto! + We ordered some wine and local focaccia bread from the management company, to be provided on our arrival. Again this was a bit of a spendy treat but it was SO delicious and very much worth it. After a long day of travel, to arrive to a massive pile of fresh bread (with assorted toppings) and chilled wine was just bliss. + The apartment had everything we could need for our 3 night stay - and we could have stayed for much longer very comfortably. It was tastefully decorated, cleaned to a high standard throughout, and included a well provisioned kitchen. + The walk-in wardrobe for clothes storage and full length mirror was very handy for getting ready for nights out. + Very comfy bed, with fresh linen. We slept very well during our stay. + It bears repeating - THAT TERRACE! It was the highlight of our stay in Manarola! We enjoyed it throughout the day, from morning coffee, pre-dinner drinks, to watching the breathtaking sunset. Obviously the glorious sunny weather helped!

- It took a while to receive an initial response to my questions sent to the property management company. I replied promptly to their request for information and had some questions about our stay - sent as they had done via the Booking.com inbox. However I did not receive a response this way and had to send a couple of emails before I heard back from someone. I appreciate that our booking was still some time away and it was off-season, but given the high price paid for the apartment, it did make me somewhat nervous. Once I did hear from Alexandra at Cinque Terre Riviera however, she was very helpful. - The concrete spiral staircase that connects the 2 floors in the duplex apartment, while lovely and cool underfoot in the warm weather, is a bit hazardous. Tripping on it could result in serious injury, with the steep steps and sharp edges. We took extra care and as two healthy adults were fine - but I would be very cautious if travelling with young children or elderly.

Hard to reach, no electrical plugs, tight spaces, misled about the two bathrooms, there was only one. On the morning of our check out, we were not late either, in fact we were ready right on time, the cleaning lady was waiting outside sitting on the steps for us to leave so she could clean. Found that annoying and tacky. Certainly not acceptable for what we paid for per night. Next time we might consider staying in Corniglia!
