Flateli Begur

The flat was lovely, very comfortable and spacious for 6 of us, although we didn’t spend a lot of time in the flat as we were at a wedding all day and evening on Saturday. It was very kind of the owner to let us stay till until 1.30 on Sunday, so we could sleep late after the party and e joy a late breakfast on the lovely terrace with spectacular view.

The place was large; nicely laid out, And the view speaks for itself! Three bathrooms and bedrooms were a good size - actually too much for our small family, so really nice to have the extra space to spread out. The terrace at the front has a large table, sheltered from direct sun and rain, that means that dinner with the view would be possible every night. In the rear the small terrace has a large BBQ, which was also nice. The location is also okay, kind of close to town and beaches. Mostly quiet (apart from road noise), and the compound is small with just 6 houses, so we didn’t have any neighbor noise.also the parking in a secure garage underneath the property was also nice. They had left us some water and coffee, which was welcome when we arrived. And the place was tidy, and clean enough for us. Nice place to have as a jump off to other areas, Pals, beaches, etc are all close!

Property itself The place was fine, but various switches were broken, as was the flush for one loo, lights not working, sofa on the balcony didn’t seem clean enough to really enjoy using… overall nothing worth complaining about, but not great. However neither of the two sliding doors seemed to lock securely, you can use the shutters, but it didn’t give us much of a sense of comfort. Bugs! You simply wouldn’t believe the amount of bugs and creepy crawlies here! From armies of ants, spiders, and moths… but also so many mosquitos… we found 10 in one room in a single night; and from the marks on the walls, seems we were not the only ones. This really spoilt our trip, as each of us were bitten multiple times each night, despite closing all windows, doors, spending time seeking/destroying them, and using all mosquito repellent known to mankind! Location Although the location is really nice, and gives the view, it’s quite close to a main road that gives traffic noise, of the boy-racer variety. Also to get to/from the town you have to walk some unlit roads without a pedestrian area, which was fine, but did feel risky! Pool The pool is a couple of minutes walk outside the compound. Not far at all, but further than we expected, it was also shared (no problem) but the water wasn’t so clean that we wanted to use it… beaches were close anyway :) Misc Rubbish : you have to dispose of your rubbish yourself. But the instructions for this are vague to say the least! In the end it’s quite easy, put “Deixalleria Begur” in to google maps and you are a 3-4 min drive away… just not explained! Address: we were given 2 different addresses, and actually finding the place was not easy as it is a tiny side road off a side road. Again, google maps “flateli Begur” was easiest! Cleaning : although the place was clean, we found some paperwork with personal details of the previous occupant, which surprised me!
