Monte Gordo Flat

The flat was spacious, lovely balcony over looking the square. The kitchen had good facilities. The location of the flat was good, just one road from the beach. Having a lift was essential as it was on the 5th floor. Also, having a parking space was really essential because it is very difficult to find a parking place in the height of the season.

The biggest problem was the lack of air conditioning. For the first week it was very hot, and the temperature was not really dropping at night, which was quite unbearable and very difficult to sleep. We had to have all the windows and doors open to try and get some air blowing through, and leave the fans on, all of which was very noisy and made it very hard to sleep. This also meant that the mosquitos could get in, and we were eaten alive by them. Air conditioning would have made a huge difference. There was no plug in the bath…it took me 4 days to find where to buy one…and there is no holder for the shower, which is just connected to the bath taps. You have to hold the shower to hose yourself down. This could be easily fixed to make a much better system. The automatic door to the underground garage was also only working intermittently, which could be quite frustrating on a one way street with traffic behind you.
