Beautiful family run hotel in Dol de Bretagne

Simply divine and 4th generation family run hotel - the beating heart of Dol de Bretagne. Wonderful hosts and very friendly. Car parking is easy and the town is an oasis for those seeking the French way of life. Our room was delightful overlooking the square with balcony space to sit & observe life. Its next to the market hall which hosts different events including fruits & vegetables. We ate at the hotel and the food was wonderful. The wine is delightful. We would come here again and recommend it to others thinking of staying in the area.

Lovely hotel adjacent to the town center .

Close to the town centre and amenities this refurbished hotel was clean and comfortable . The room was good .

We arrived 1.1/2 hours before 4 when reception was open . Had we arrived before we would have incurred extra costs . We had to shelter from the heatwave in a local bar which we didn’t really want to do at that time . The parking is adjacent to the hotel and free however there is a Saturday market and though I had sought reassurance we would be ok to leave Saturday morning it was in fact difficult to drive through part of the market ! There should be a warning about this ..

Maid entered our room pulled the covers on the bed, didn’t make the bed or clean the room, had to ask her to refill bath

There was a staff member that was helpful, made eggs for me, and called a cab for us to go to Mt St Michel. Train for St Malo comes often.

Hotel could use an update. Staff was friendly enough for France. A lot of noise at night for off season.

A very well positioned hotel with all the necessary facilities with very nice and helpful staff.

This is a well positioned hotel with good free parking in an interesting historic town. Our room was spacious with a large comfortable bed with good bedding. There was plenty of hanging and shelf space for cloths, we like to unpack and not live out of suitcases, and the bathroom was modern and everything worked. We eat dinner one night which was excellent and the breakfasts with a wide range of food from an adjacent buffet were eaten in the main dining room. Very good coffee…. We are unlikely to return to Dol de Bretagne but were we to do so, would definitely stay here again.

Staff worked very hard to please. Breakfast and dinner were lovely. Accommodations were made for our gluten free traveler. They were happy to store our luggage when we did on overnight to Mont Saint Michel. The elevator was essential!

Location of hotel is very good, right in town. Room was comfortable and well equipped.

Breakfast was very disappointing. There was very limited choice and service (topping up of what was available) was very slow and intermittent. The staff (despite the hotel advertising "English Spoken") were unable to communicate particularly effectively. Our limited French therefore made it quite difficult, e.g. trying to ascertain options for parking. This was important as areas close to and outside the hotel were within the market that was scheduled for the day after our arrival.

Sadly this hotel has not maintained its high standards of the past.

The room was very tastefully decorated with a lovely modern bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable.

One of the resons we chose the Bretagne was becase some time back the food was really excellent. Sadly this time the food was just awful. The chips were unpeeled, grey and overdone. The duck was so tough that it could not be cut from the fat. The cod (merlu) - described as being served with a lemon potato mash, was so small that it was served in a soup bowl, undetectable flavour of lemon in the mash and served with one tired looking letuce leaf. When we went to the bar for an evening aperitif there was no one on reception and no lights in the bar. We had to go and look for someone. One of the ceiling lights in the bar was broken, the material on the frontage of the bar has rippled and needs replacing, in fact the whole area looked unkept, tired and uncared for, Some sort of awful fishy cake square was served with the aperitif, it was inedible. A very important issue which completely spoiled the ambience of the modern bathroom was that the towels, let alone small, were so old that they felt like sandpaper. They should have been replaced years ago, they felt very unhygenic and were a dirty shade of white. All in all, apart from the nice room, it was a huge disappointment and that is why we will not be looking to return.

C'est indiqué qu'il y a un parking alors que c'est des places en zone bleue et en plus avec le marché du samedi matin impossible de laisser sa voiture devant l'hôtel donc obligé de se garer sur un parking plus loin
