Grand Hotel Palau

Great location, nice hotel, good staff.

I enjoyed the charming bedroom and large bathroom, but found the breakfast only adequate. The receptionist was less than helpful when I asked various questions, and when I asked if I could have a blanket, as there was only a thin bed covering, was told it wasn't possible to be given one. Also, contrary to what was shown on the site, there is no airport shuttle and there is a bar - but it is closed. Once I was back home, I realised I had forgotten a jacket in my room, but no one at the hotel responded to my email or answered the phone when I called.

We used this accommodation as a single night after arriving in Sardinia. We had a sea view room that was simple but comfortable, it had a cottage feel and provided everything we needed. Breakfast was enough variety. If staying longer I would suggest upgrading your room. We loved the view from the front entrance.

We stayed at this supposed 4-star hotel in Palau, drawn by its breathtaking view of the La Maddalena archipelago, which is undeniably the highlight of the property. The vistas are stunning and truly world-class, but unfortunately, that’s where the 4-star experience ends. The rooms are cute and clean, with a pleasant enough design, but they don’t scream luxury or meet the expectations of a 4-star establishment. The breakfast was a major letdown—very basic, with limited options that felt more suited to a budget hotel than a 4-star one. The selection was repetitive and lacked the quality or variety we expected. Service was another weak point. The reception desk was often unattended, making it frustratingly difficult to find staff for assistance or information. Basic amenities were also lacking; no complimentary water bottles were provided, and beach towels weren’t available, even for rent. To top it off, the entire hotel had just one iron available for guest use, which was inconvenient and surprising for a property of this supposed caliber. While the view is spectacular, the overall experience fell far short of 4-star standards. This hotel needs significant improvements in service, amenities, and breakfast quality to live up to its rating.
