Byala Palace Apartments

I exchanged phone numbers with the host so that we had WhatsApp and Viber as alternative and free means of communication, besides the chat of the Booking.com app. We were met by the host at the entrance of the Residence and were brought to our apartment. The view from apartment 7 was just great - facing the gorgeous garden and the three swimming pools. The residence is in a central location WRT our points of interest - the Central beach, the T market, and Yard Bar&Gril, the best restaurant in the area if not in all of Byala. The staff was friendly and provided us with the extra stuff that we requested in order to feel comfortable in the apartment (new, clean pillows and bedsheets, new laundry hanger). They allowed us to check in some 2 hours earlier then the formal start at 14:00 as the previous tenants had already left the day before. They met us at 12:00PM on our check out day to collect the keys and bid farewell. The swimming pools area were regularly taken care of by the personnel. Neighbors in that residence were polite and quiet, not so many of them in end-August. The apartment had a nice, spaceous terrace, two separate toilets, and the bathroom was equipped with a bathtube. The bedroom and living room had their own air conditioners.

The owner of apartment 7 (I cannot speak about the entire Byala Palace residence!) did a terrible job when furnishing the place - the furniture was very inadequate. (Most of the owners seem to be Russian citizens who, for geopolitical reasons have been prevented from accessing their properties abroad in the past several years.) The wardrobe part for hanging clothes was barely 25-30 cm wide (!!!!!) - that for a 2-person bedroom. That was initially stuffed with extra pillows and blankets that we askted the host to take away. The pillows on the bed were stincky so they had to be replaced. The sofa looked obviously dirty and we asked the host to cover it with a nice-looking cover for our stay. That was so inconvenient a sofa - you sink to some 10-15 cm from the floor, and getting up takes a lot of effort. Then, the back rest is far behind, and working on it with your laptop on the high dining table was literally painful. The ventilation of the toilets, bathroom and kitchen (part of the living room) was insufficient, there was no fume absorber above the cooking plate. We only got one pair of towels each (one for bathing and one for faces/hands, and were denied extra towels for the kitchen, etc. The TV was some 21-22" in diagonal and we never turned that on (not appealing at all; not even for the News and Weather forecast). The last 3 days of our stay, the Internet got really bad (and traceroute revealed that the ISP was BTC, the former state telecom). The bed was VERY hard.

Swimming pool, on-site parking, close to supermarket and restaurants, 700m from the beach, not excessively touristy, lovely balcony with views of the pool and the sea. We stayed for four nights and it was very relaxing. Helpful hosts

The wifi was very intermittent, more often than not dropping out. There was no dish washing liquid, no spare rubbish bags, only a single toilet roll in each bathroom (inadequate for a four day stay), minimal complimentary soap and shampoo
