La Urraca Loca Hostel

I had a wonderful stay at La Urraca Loca. From the moment I arrived, Luis gave me a great check-in and took the time to explain the many tour and activity options available on Ometepe, which was extremely helpful. The food on the property was also excellent, and all of the staff were friendly and welcoming. My room was absolutely spotless and very comfortable. The location in Balgüe is great as well, with plenty of good cafés and restaurants within easy walking distance. Overall, everything was great. La Urraca Loca is a beautiful, relaxed place with wonderful staff, and I would happily stay here again!

There is a church next door, so on some mornings you may hear the bells announcing a service. And since this is a rural area, you may also hear the occasional rooster. The hostel kindly provides earplugs, which I used, and I slept like a baby! So for me, this was really not an issue at all—just something to be aware of if you're a light sleeper.

Urraca Loca is a spectacular hostel. Accommodations, Food, Location and the staff have definitely exceeded the expectations. If I am ever coming back to Ometepe, I would love to stay there and enjoy this nature immersed hostel. Any question has always been effectively answered and recommendations for tours and rentals have always been available. Besides the marvelous staff, it was easy to get to meet other travelers and share each other's adventures and life stories. A million times recommended!!

If I had to pick something that I would perhaps add on a (unlimited) budget, perhaps I would add something for entertainment like a pool, shuffle board or a baby foot kinda game. Maybe extending the dinner options, adding a booking system for the kitchen so that they might know in advance what people want. moreover, I think it would probably invite people to have more meals there and it could also be an opportunity for sharing a meal with fellow travelers.

This is a great place to stay. I had a private room which would be great for solo or couples. Having hot water was nice. Dennis at the desk was very helpful arranging everything from scooters to tours. Great location being off the main road of Balgue but very close to restaurants and bars. Multiple areas to chill in hammocks. Drinking water was available. Highly recommended and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

In the dormitory was a girl sleeping in the bed below me. She was angry each time I was moving at night. That was really annoying and the reason why I didn't like the hotel.
