Hard Rock Hotel Shenzhen

The overall look and decoration of the hotel is great. It is clean and the bluetooth sound system in the spacious room is nice. The breakfast was divers and nice with a great decor in the restaurant. The bed was quite comfy,

The airco unit was a jet engine and far too loud to have running at night for me. Therefore it had to be turned off by which it got quite hot in the room eventually with sweaty wake ups. And well you are in China, so not everything works as great as it looks like. e.g. the shower door did not close properly so the bathroom floor floods will showering. The drain of the bath did not open after having taken a bath so you had to pry it open with a coin. A fridge in the room that did not get very cold. Such things takes away the 5 star feeling. It would have been nice for the desk to be positioned to face the room rather than a wall. Pool closing at 19:00 is early

I love that there is a live plant in the bathroom. It made the room feel less cold. I loved that the quilt has a proper quilt cover on it, and it is not sandwiched between 2 flat sheets. The shower was great, with nice water pressure.

The breakfast and the coffee. The breakfast is probably good for most, but I find it does not cater to my dietary preferences. Luckily there is a starbucks nearby and they have cold brew. I hate that the quilt is tucked in at the feet. Why do hotels do this! The bed is too hard for my liking.

Perfect location for our needs, exceptionally friendly and accommodating staff, room was very big with cool decor, free guitar rental was fun.

Cafe allowed smoking which wasn’t nice

-Friendly staff -Some staff speak a little English -Across the street from Mission Hills Mall -Solid live performances in the cafe -Good reasonably priced food for a hotel -You can borrow a high end guitar and amp for a 3000 RMB deposit -The gym is better than most hotel gyms (barbels go up to 22kg) -Deposits were returned within a minute after checking out.

-As a family friendly hotel, be prepared for feral children screaming and running up and down the halls at all hours -Every spot in the hotel is open to children, including the private lounges. While parents play on their phones, their ignored children will climb on chairs at your table and will touch your food. -I had to step over a toddler lying on the floor during checkout. His father was playing on his phone and didn't notice. -The pool is only open from 10:00-19:00, and is packed with unobserved children. -The elevators are not capable of serving the hotel during peak times (I waited over 10 minutes to get one that wasn't packed with people). -The halls reek of cigarette smoke, as people openly smoke in the hallways. The staff will clear the smokers out if requested. -Don't purchase anything at the gift shop. Get it on Taobao for 1/10 the price. -The internet was incredibly slow. Most searches just timed out.
