For this trip we chose to rent an apartment rather than a hotel room because we needed a quiet place with a good internet connection to have business-related Skype sessions at various times during the day. We were assured by the owner that the place met our requirement. Upon arrival we discovered that a local gas company crews were working on several floors in the tower, above and below our floor, replacing the gas pipes in the building. Deafening noise from pneumatic hammers tunneling through slabs rang throughout the day, from 8 am to 7 pm. It was impossible for us to work or to rest, had to scramble to find office space. The last two of the nine days of our stay we were able to find rooms in a hotel, difficult because it was Easter weekend. The owner was apologetic but considering that the work had been going on for weeks prior to our trip we find it astonishing that she would assume it would be quiet during our stay of nine days. In compensation, we were offered a US$100 reduction of the rental price, which did not even cover our two nights of hotel.
