Villa Penelope Spartia Kefalonia

The house and the view were simply amazing. You have everything you need in this house. There was also a gift when we entered the house. Wine, chips, cookies and more useful things. When we asked for a longer stay on the last day we could stay for two hours longer without having to pay extra. The swimming pool is stunning. Swimming in it and watching the view is beyond belief. A great stay and recommended.

The sound of the swimming pool was extremely loud. We asked if this could be changed as it was there 24hrs a day. It just didn't stop. They changed something so the sound (to clean the swimming pool) started at 11:30 in the morning. But the rest of the day you couldn't hear anything else in the garden than the swimming pool. That was quite a bummer. Also were there rats. The first evening one got almost inside running towards the door. I closed it just in time. In the morning you find the rat poop everywhere in the garden. I know the people can't do anything about this, but worth mentioning. We quite didn't understand the green stone ground next to the swimming pool. This could have been grass and would have looked much nicer.

The property is absolutely stunning with breathtaking views out to sea from literally everywhere. The infinity pool, outdoor furniture and amenities are absolutely amazing! You could not want more from this villa. It’s located a few minutes walk from rock pools with access to the pool, loungers and umbrellas which is absolutely stunning at sun set! A short drive from the beach with crystal blue waters and a restaurant and bar which closes around the 17th September for end of season. Argostoli the capital is a town really on the seafront with a beautiful square with amazing restaurants! The Italian and Chinese were really good. You can take a walk along the marina or through the town for anything you need. It’s a great base on the island only 20 minutes from the villa, 57 minutes from myrtos beach which is an absolutely must to visit. Fiskardo, assos and Sami are all within about an hours drive. Olive Garden restaurant is a short 10 minute drive and also a must if you’re looking for incredible food! We ate here on 3 nights, it was that good. Closest 'supermarket' is Lidle which is on the main road to argostoli, this will have literally everything you need. Do not go to the local market recommended if you are looking to do a weeks shop, it is over priced and is more of a village shop. Dianne from freelance Villas was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble. Would certainly return.

The only thing I would change is the location, a car is an absolute necessity, as it’s located right on the side of the mountain. The drive is steep and windy and roads are not great. Everything is a 20 minute drive away, all shops, restaurants, bars etc. apart from an amazing restaurant called the Olive Garden where we went for 3 nights. It’s so beautiful with stunning outdoor areas to eat, they also serve the best steak that we have ever eaten and super tasty desserts!! It’s a must!!! All other restaurants are in Argostoli. If you are travelling in the summer months, there is the Waterway which is a beach restaurant 10 minutes away too. It was closed when we went but looked like it would be lovely. If you’re happy driving then book this villa, you will not regret it as it’s truly stunning!! With easy access to most parts of the island by car.
