No breakfast provided. No towels. Unwalkable roads into and out of location. Leaky moldy tent, no wood heaters, cold and wet inside. Overall bad conditions. Wifi only works in the main house, not any of the outbuildings or tents.
Booked this location for TEN DAYS paid in full weeks b4 check in. Tent was uninhabitable (leaky, moldy, no wood burner or towels, ONE blanket in the freezing cold) so I had to leave after one night. Because I had used Booking.com, they collected more than $2,000 USD from me in advance and I was unable to get a refund for the NINE days I had paid for and had to find and pay for another place for the rest of my stay. Listing implies property is walking distance from Hay on Wye. BIG LIE. Property is 8-10 miles from Hay via UNWALKABLE farm roads w hedgerows.

Location was lovely
It could of been a little cleaner ,but understand as it’s dog friendly hence finding dog hairs on sofa etc.

This site has the best price for a bell tend near Hay Festival, which is a book festival that runs 2 weeks annually in Hay on Wye, Wales. Accommodations for Hay Festival in town are challenging and costly for any category, so this was the best deal with 2 months lead time. The bell tent was clean and dry and we managed to sleep well with a 2x comforters despite 10oC nighttime temps with wind and rain during our 4 night stay, which is likely typical for May. There were about 6 bell tents that were well spread out on a farm field with a gate. There were individual huts with toilets 2x male and 2x female, showers (4x unisex) and a fully equipped came kitchen with a propane stove and plenty of utensils, pots and pans, and a fridge we could use. We were using the site to access the Hay Festival in Hay on Wye, and it was about 20 min on a single track farm road to get to the site. This is less of a problem than it sounds as there was virtually no traffic on the access road. We only had one point where we needed to back up to get to a wider spot to let a truck pass. Similar bell tent facilities were available within walking distance of the Hay Festival. The advantage of the Drover's Rest is that it was a quiet, uncrowded site. The farm was charming, with the most friendly farm cat we ever met, and equally friendly ponies who came over to check us out as we walked to a from the field with the tents. Also Llamas and runner ducks from more of a distance. So it's quite a nice site and it might use it again, but might try to do it in time to try out the proper Glamping!
Our bell tent had a double bed and two twin beds in boxes on the ground with a coarse carpet (perhaps woven hemp) underneath. So was bit cluttered as we only needed the double bed. Linens and two comforters were provided and were fine for cool nights. We were told to bring towels and we should have also brought bathmats as the mats in the shower stalls were mostly soaked (communal). The showers did have warm water, but were on a push button timer giving about 10 second per push. The facilities in the bell tent field generally reminded me of summer camps I had attended growing up. My wife and I were a bit old to enjoy it! We saw the wash house for the Glamping tents. So keep in mind for this establishment that bell tents are really almost like real camping with a bed (not Glamping), whereas the Glamping looks more like a a detached hotel room with a bbq and heat, etc. So likely a totally different experience. Might try this next time around!

We liked the friendly and relaxed owners and mixing in with other international guests and staff. The location was beautiful and the wandering dogs, ducks and wild ponies heightened every walk through the farm which is beautifully laid out
The braai on Saturday night is a treat.
We stayed in the bell tents which were very noisy due to the high winds. Very comfortable bed linen and snug.

close to the nature. chance to feed and understand various kinds of animals in the farm.
a bit narrow to drive to the farm, a bit pricey, maybe because of the festival

Family orientated with some nice details and a farm trail you could walk round when you wanted. Some lovely animals and seemed a friendly vibe with extras if you wanted. Lots of parking and some amazing walks and views. Only a short distance to Hay on Wye where there are lovely shops, cafes and books!
The Cart House was a good size and initially looked good. However it became very quickly obvious that the entire accommodation was quite dirty. There were a lot of cobwebs with dead flys hanging off them in quite visible places. Dead wasps on the windowsills and flys which my daughter cleaned up. The cafetière was filthy as was the frying pan, cutlery and wooden chopping board. I immediately put all the culinary equipment back in the dishwasher on an intensive wash. The bed linen in the master bedroom had no buttons or fasteners so the duvet cover kept coming off the duvet. Were also some unpleasant marks on there as well. Also the accommodation is classed as self catering but the equipment in the kitchen was very minimal as were the cleaning supplies. I had to buy anti bac spray, kitchen roll and rubber gloves. My daughter dropped something under the sofa so I had to move the sofa to retrieve it and let’s just say I don’t think they have ever been cleaned under. Wasn’t nice.
When I pay over £1000 for 4 nights accommodation, I expect it to be clean and I don’t expect to be asked to put all the recycling and rubbish out and definitely don’t expect to have to strip the beds before I leave. Also we paid for a pony ride for my daughter but unfortunately it was cancelled which is fair enough but what is poor is to not be told and for me to be walking around a field for 10 mins looking for the riding instructor. We left early in the end as it didn’t match our expectations and the vision their website creates.

Setting was lovely and so nice for kids to all run around and play together
Tent wasn't clean, found old sock under bed, mouldy old bread left from previous guests and outside table was thick with dirt. Restaurant was only open one day of the stay. Price was expensive for what it was. There was no hot water and other guests complained to us that they had the same issue. (Only managed one hit shower in 4 days)

Very chilled out place. Lovely opportunities to have campfires, play ping pong and visit animals on the farm. Really liked the addition of electric blankets!

Location was ideal between 2 sites that we are working on. The lane down to the house was a bit tight in a large van but doable. Facilities and house were excellent.
Apart from the lane everything was exceptional.

Beautiful location with a fair amount to do specially with kids. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Although a beautiful cottage, upstairs felt cramped while it was an extremely busy weekend on the farm when we visited and we didnt feel a sense of privacy.

Stunning farm location with a whole animal tour by the hosts which made our morning. Accommodation was gorgeous, such a homely cottage and had everything we need- including a fab fire. Amenities were all good too.
The views of the farm were wonderful and the hosts were very friendly but not intrusive and provided us with everything we needed including local knowledge.
Would definitely come again!
It was all perfect!

It was such a beautiful cottage that felt more than a home than a holiday cottage. It had everything you could need plus it was set in beautiful peaceful countryside. The hosts were helpful but not intrusive and left us to enjoy the cottage and our time as a family.

This place was fantastic. We have a toddler and baby and the toddler loved doing the farm walk in the mornings. On our way home she asked if she could go back!
No complaints.

The farm is beautiful, well-kept and oozing good vibes. People are welcoming and nice. Super easy going. The animals are happy and really well looked after. We stayed in the Shepherds Shack which is pretty nice and has everything you need. We found bread, muffins, and milk when we arrived also. There is a lovely fireplace with wood ready to burn. Activities are fun! We loved the farm walks and the campfire, we missed on the walk bit heard great things. Lovely dogs on the farm which made me really want to have one myself! Super cute little shop with local craft and products. Great eco-friendly approach.
The towels weren’t super fresh - they were clean but they must have been humid when they were stored because they smelled. No extra towels or blankets. Beds in the twin room cramped to the point that the door did not open fully. Very few hooks around to hang wet jackets and stuff (which is a shame because it rains a lot). Great emphasis on ecological cleaning etc (which it’s great!) so there were no tissues or kitchen towels, but there wasn’t a substitute for them (we used loo rolls to dry fruits and veg). Slim dishwasher which needs daily load but only two tablets for 5 days... food was ok, but terribly overpriced for quality/quantity - BBQ night was £20/head and you get one sausage, 2/3 small ribs, and a small piece of chicken. Plus a little potato salad, bread, and baked beans to share. Kids’ portion is £15 and only difference is that it’s missing the ribs... breakfast was quite basic with store-bought everything but no local/artisan breads/cheeses etc.
