We had a fantastic weekend at The Northcliff for a special occasion. The views, the restaurant and staff all fantastic. However, upon checking out we experienced a dampener as the hotel wanted to charge us R1200 extra for the room over and above the full rate charged by Agoda/ rate advertised on the hotel's own website. The explanation we were given was that 'the rates have gone up'. After some discussion the hotel refrained from charging the extra amount, but something like this simply should not happen.

My husband and I spent 3 nights in the superior king room villa 2.
The views from the dinning area are lovely.
The room was a nice size and the bed was comfortable.
The staff were amazing. One of the nights we stayed at the hotel was new years and staff had worked until early hours of the morning and then we were surprised to see them back at 7:30am to serve us breakfast. They were full of smiles despite having to travel home and back to the hotel with only a couple of hours sleep.
The view from our balcony wasn’t as shown in the photos. There was a roof covered with shade cloth blocking some of the view.
The hotel towels were old and worn. There was only complementary water provided in the rooms along with tea and coffee facilities. We had expected to have a similar experience to the other luxury Northcliff accomodation that provided various complementary refreshments in the room as well as a complementary coffee station with eats available in the lounge area.
The breakfasts were disappointing.
There weren’t any restaurants nearby the hotel.
We felt that The Northcliff Boutique Hotel was overpriced and not nearly as nice as other luxury hotels that we’ve stayed in Northcliff.
