Rams Guest House Near Sree Chithra and RCC

It met two essential criteria: AC room. Attached bathroom. Within the limitations explained later reasonably prompt service to address issues, by the only person on the premise. The one thing I really liked was something the guest house didn't mention, and probable doesn't even know about, my friend Bokul didn't. There is a no 7c bus stop five minutes from the hotel to city centre, Railway station, main bus stand, Anantha Padmanabhaswamy temple. The bus drivers are considerate and stop, the conductors are helpful enough, and never a hassle about change. In fact, one conductor gave back ₹5, when he didn't have ₹4 change! I must add my lack of Malayalam was a handicap, Hindi and English not very easily understood, but always they made time and real effort to communicate.

This property was listed along with others, which I presume are more upmarket, just not easy from the listing to make out. The location of the guest house and the guest house at first sight disappointing, but actually quite alright, especially with respect to basics. (I'll make bold to say typical of Keralam, they hide their strengths!). No kettles, nothing. Not even bottled water, which every traveller expects and should get. No clue as to where to one can get it, nearest place to get a breakfast or even a cup of coffee. No hot water. The solar hot water on a 31degree and higher day didn't even produce mildly tepid water in the evening. Bokul, after some complaint and coaxing lugged a bucket full of hot water upstairs, where my room was. That my room was on first floor, no lift, was not the guest house's fault, but perhaps booking.com should include it, so that us eighty-year-olds can make more informed choice. For the record I carried my luggage up and down but just managed it. The password for their wifi their superfast bot gave me didn't work - it probably is for their fancier properties. I rang and located Bokul who gave me a much longer 12 or so digit password which did work! You are on your own to arrange your travels, say to Airport or Railway station. Mild price gouging to get to the hotel from the Railway station.

Excellent stay! The guest house was exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and very pleasant. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with all amenities. Staff were super friendly and helpful.
