True Hidden Gem!

This place is a true hidden gem! Staying in a traditional Indo house was such a wonderful experience—it did not disappoint if it's what you after. You’ll wake up to the sound of birds chirping and water flowing, and opening the window truly feels like a home away from home. Relaxing on the porch while your worries melt away makes it all the more special.

The property does not have a fridge inside, you have to use the common area, which is okay as it's a really nice common area surrounded by the fish pond.

Peaceful and relaxing oasis

This was an oasis of calm off the busy streets of Canggu. So peaceful, lovely pool and the perfect place to recharge. I loved having breakfast (fresh fruit and coffee) on the terrace, watching birds and squirrels in the trees! Staff were friendly and helpful. I arrived late from tue airport and they arranged for security to let me in. The rooms/houses are all gorgeous and individually charming, with lots of room.

Every thing was latterly amazing and the owner is a really nice person , she took care personally of every detail and she contacted us directly providing us all the options of restaurants around the place with google map locations , I will stay there again and again and again

Beautiful villas and grounds. An oasis in the canguu madness. Amazing pool and very comfortable rooms. So many beautiful pieces of Balinese art in the garden it’s a treat for the senses. Highly recommend.

The only thing was to be aware there is no restaurant so if you arrive late you will need to go out for food.

Stunning oasis in the heart of Canggu

This is such a gorgeous oasis in the centre of Canggu. We kept on pinching ourselves about how beautiful the whole place was. Everything was clean and well kept and the staff were really lovely and attentive, but also allowed for us to feel like we had a private retreat. Would absolutely stay here again, was stunning.

My partner arrived before me and was greeted with fabulous hospitality. The grounds are beyond beautiful and the pool area is stunning with so much sunlight and lush greenery. A slice of magic in the heart of Canggu.

The noise at night from the neighbours and dogs around woke us up quite often. (We were staying in the room at the front near the entrance so that might have been the reason for the excessive noise)

Great retreat

On our arrival we were taken aback by the beauty of this tucked away retreat, full of artisan decor and tranquility. We enjoyed a very spacious twin room and enjoyed the peace that this retreat provided during our stay in Bali - at times feeling like we had the place to ourselves. Had good air conditioning in the room, kitchen was fully equipped and clean. The staff were so lovely and helpful. Great location in walking distance of many nice cafes and restaurants in Canggu. We will definitely recommend this retreat to our friends and family, and would be keen to come back in the future 😊

It was a a hidden little paradise and felt like you were actually in Bali, will definitely be coming back again.

The place really did feel like a retreat.. beautiful traditional rooms surrounded by a gorgeous garden. It’s a perfect place to relax, had a great pool and large open kitchen/lounge space where you could feel like home. All the staff were absolutely lovely and always there to help.

Amazing in every aspect!

We spent our best time at Wayang Retreat while visiting Canggu. The villa is in the perfect location and even though the streets are busy, there is just no street noise audible while you are at the hotel's premises. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay, it is run by lovely and interesting people we enjoyed our conversations with :) Wayang Retreat is also full of interesting art and the overall design makes you feel relaxed from the very moment you start your stay. We definitely found our Zen here and we would like to come back next time we visit Bali. For animal lovers, there are 2 dogs and a great number of Koi fish around the living room area. We would like to thank the whole staff as well, you really make this place special :) see you next time!

Wayang Retreat gives you a nice balance of relaxation in contrast to the bustling city of Canggu. In a great location, you just a quick GoJek away from the beach and you’re also close to restaurants and coffee shops. Really enjoyed my stay here

The design of Wayang and the smiling kind staff were a highlight of our month in Indonesia. The unique traditional and antique retreat is owned by a family and it shows- the setting was peaceful. Basically a lovely green oasis. The staff were awesome and personable- it’s obvious this isnt a big corporate hotel chain. The location is good and you can’t hear any traffic (really unusual in Canguu/ Berawa). We would love to come back and would recommend. We found the dogs really cute and chilled. Koi pond was awesome too.

Great place to stay - would recommend and stay again.

Room was spacious, had a great wardrobe and the most beautiful bathroom. The communal area was always spotless and was a very comfortable space to hang out in. The pool area had lots of sun which kept the water a lovely temperature all day.

The hotel dogs were lovely to have around, but they could be treated to more regular baths! A nearby 'call to prayer' woke us up several times at 5am. Not the hotels fault, just something to be prepared for.

Fantastic hidden gem in the busy area of Canggu, close to shops and restaurants but far from noise.

I liked the ambience of Wayang Retreat. The two dogs were very tame and lovely, I would come back just to see them again. Junior was knowledgeable and fantastic to speak to, he was helpful in answering questions and also a very friendly individual. He helped us book a driver (who was also fantastic) Breakfast was nice as well, starting from 8/8:30 am and it was toast and fruit - very standard breakfast. Our room was quite nice, they provided insect repellent, the shower and toilet was indoors which was nice for a change. There was also a pool that we did not used but looked clean. We would definitely stay here again.

The grounds are beautiful, very well cared for. Staff is very helpful and always available. Great pool! It feels very private even though you are in the heart of Canggu.

The beanbags around the pool are not very comfy so we didn't end up using them. No problem though since there are multiple deck chairs available.

Gardens on the property very lush and well kept. Artwork throughout interesting. Staff friendly.

Facilities run down. Pool dirty and decking well beyond repair. Rusty nails and rotting wood. No fridge or kettle in room. Air con not big enough for room and they turn it off when you go out. Come back to hot room not nice. Was over priced at $170 AUD a night for no luxury at all.

Beautiful, relaxing

The location was lovely, hidden off the main road so that it felt like a little oasis of quiet in the busy town. Staff are very attentive and the bungalow was beautiful. Ulekan restaurant just down the road is a must try for dinner!

Breakfast was very limited, only a croissant, toasted white bread and fruit. Would recommend not paying for breakfast but getting something at the many local cafes and food stands.
