We had a wonderful stay at Bill and Karen’s place in France. They are a lovely, welcoming couple who made us feel right at home. The accommodation was perfect – spotlessly clean, fully equipped with everything we needed, and very comfortable. The views were absolutely stunning, and we especially loved spending time in the beautiful garden and the fantastic pool. The village is peaceful and quiet, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. We couldn’t have asked for more – highly recommended!

A quality self catering property with everything we needed to enjoy our stay

Quiet location, helpful friendly hosts. Good wifi, comfortable accommodation. Enjoyed sitting out for breakfast and evening meals when the weather allowed. Also had access to a large garden courtesy of the host and a heated swimming pool. Able to park outside our accommodation.

A lovely place for a short stay

This was a very nice complex of four gites, in a lovely, quiet, peaceful setting. Bill and Karen were great hosts - nothing was too much trouble. The gite was well equipped and comfortable. The pool was very nice and had plenty of chairs and sunbeds. The fridge was stocked with a welcome pack which was gratefully received! Lots of outdoor space for sitting and enjoying the lovely countryside and the stunning sunsets.

Unfortunately, our gite was the smallest of the four and the living space was a little bit cramped. Whilst the location of the gite is lovely, it is quite a drive to the nearest facilities - not particularly good for going out to eat, for example.

Extraordinary sunsets available free of charge!

Le Bois Gautier is a great place handled by very friendly and supportive people. The accommodation is nice, clean, and cozy - a farm house appearence with all the modern amenities. Our kids enjoyed the outdoor swimming pool (heated!) while we could relax in a peaceful countryside atmosphere. The farm is located close to a couple of small towns (shops, restaurants etc.) and, from our point of view, it was a convenient base for shorter and longer car trips. Bill and Karen are there to help you with any topics and to provide you with smart local hints.

Excellent place to stay. Lovely people.

Bill and Karen were perfect hosts. As we were staying with a dog, we really appreciated the amount of space for her to run around - and play with their dog Clover. The whole experience was most enjoyable.

The steps in and out of the back door were difficult to negotiate even for the fitter members of our party. We felt perhaps the duvets were a bit thick for the season. Maybe a flat sheet left in the bedroom might be a good idea, when it's too hot for a duvet?

beautiful and clean cottage with friendly hosts and a lovely dog 🙂

The hosts are lovely and caring couple who showed us warm welcome and ready to offer help when we needed. Their beautiful dog Clover became a best mate of our little boy after a minute we met. The cottage was beautiful and cozy, and there were already milk, a baguette, wine, juice, butter, jam, ham and cheese and more, kitchen was well equipped that we cooked during our stay with no problem at all, all that little details in the house that shows how caring and lovely the hosts are. Everything was clean and I particularly lovely the layout and the roomy toilet. We had our car, an hour to drive to mount St Michel and St Malo, beautiful places that worth visiting.

We enjoyed chatting with the extremely hospitable hosts. When we arrived, there were cold beers in the fridge, cheese, meats and fresh croissants, which we enjoyed on the picnic table outside the room. A nice touch. Loads of outside space and seating in a lovely setting.

I arrived unprepared by bike on a Sunday evening quite tired and without any food. Very warm welcome from Dominic who had stocked the fridge up with food and drinks for breakfast, and then went out of his way to bring a load of other food options across for supper which was very gratefully received! I enjoyed a pint of beer by the pool in the sun before a good night's sleep. Cottage was a great size, nicely decorated and had everything I needed. On top of this Dominic very kindly offered to provide any assistance I might need if running into problems cycling to Caen for my ferry the next day! 5 star treatment!

A lovely taste of Normandy

Dom and Jane go out of their way to make visitors welcome. They offered us plenty of useful advice on places to visit. The generous welcome pack of bread, cheese, hams, wine and beer etc was a very lovely surprise. They share their large wellkept garden with visitors so you feel at home. The 3 well-behaved dogs Monty, Meg and Freddie were fun to have around adding that extra welcome. The gite was a lovely place to stay, in peaceful surroundings but close enough to towns for provisions and local attractions.

The bed although very comfortable was a bit creaky and the narrow staircase also creaked but these werent a problem for us.

We were warmly welcomed by Dom, fridge was well stocked which we weren't expecting as the price was so reasonable. 2 cold beers, plenty of fruit, ham, cheese, fresh bread and croissants. We stayed in a beautifully converted tastefully decorected barn. Very comfortable. Jane happily showed us around the property next morning. Perfect place to stay on route to Cherbourg. Just sorry we didn't have a second night! Well done Dom and Jayne, until next time.

The most perfect stay

The owners, the surroundings, the breakfast, the gite, the bed was very comfy. All the extra little extras we loved and enjoyed playing a game of Scrabble in the evening! The pool too was an absolute delight. Ooo and the cheese (photo attached)! Yummy 💗

From day one we felt like at home in our cottage at Le Bois Gautier. Thanks to Dominic and Jayne for their warm welcome, the food and drinks on arrival, and their many tips on places to visit and eat around the area. Both the house and the surroundings are calm and beautiful, they even have a heated swimming pool which you can use even on a rainy day. We will not hesitate to recommend to everyone and if we can we will go back again.

It’s was superb apartment, we loved it

Even though the property is away from the city , we will have a nice feeling of a farm house and the facilities were superb. The breakfast provided was nice. There is amble car parking also, we all loved the place

A gem of a place tucked in the beautiful French countryside

The lovely welcoming surprise eats, especially on a Sunday and long stay. British couple (owners) deserve any success which comes their way, always smiling and accommodating. If you want self catering with everything then this is the only place to stay, don't bother to look elsewhere

Signage/route not given if you come from the south or west of France, but Google map gets you there Would be great to have one's own broom, especially long stay (more than 3 days)
