Dimore di mare - Beachfront Apartments

Short walk to town - 10 minute walk to Sant'Elia and Porticello with restaurants, 30 minute walk to santa flavia train station, 30 minute hike to Solunto Right on the beach - The unit was right on the beach. We couldn't get closer and this made it very convenient to go back and forth to our unit Use of beach equipment - The unit had paddle boards, rafts and snorkel equipment to use. Hosts - The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay more comfortable. Unit - Our unit was large and spacious. There were two queen beds, two twin beds and one couch with two full bathrooms. We had a patio with a dining table and couches on the beach. Pool - The pool on the top level was refreshing with a great view!

Italy tourism tax - We were not told of this cash-only tax until we arrived, and there were no banks to get cash. 2E per person per night, which was 64 Euro for us. This should be included in the description so guests can plan in advance Air conditioner - The unit has a loft and the one air conditioning unit was not enough to cool the whole place. the loft was hot even with the fan - my kids ended up sleeping on the couches downstairs No taxi, or Food delivery- FreeNow and Uber Taxi could not find us rides when we tried to request them. You can only use drivers you hire in advance which is expensive and inconvenient. I recommend renting a car. The grocery store was a 20 minute walk up hills. There is a snack stand on the beach a few meters down which was convenient. Power Outages - our power went out 5 times over the week - we were only using the hot shower and air conditioner at the time. It was six flights to turn it back on. Cliff- The description does not mention that this building is on a cliff - from the bottom unit there are six flights of stairs to get to the street. This is unavoidable but should be noted in the description for guests with accessiblity issues, elderly and young children. Wifi outages - Our wifi was weak at night - We had wifi about half of the nights there. early check out - Check out is at 10am which is early by American standards. No beach chairs - There are no beach chairs for each unit. we were meant to bring our dining chairs onto the beach. I recommend bringining your own chairs if you are visiting from with Sicily.

The location and balcony was amazing, we would return for this.

There were only 3 sun loungers, and it could sleep about 7 people - so think there should have been more. Also not many loungers around pool. The kitchen also wasn’t very well equipped for cooking at the apartment. We didn’t like the bbq was provided without any coal or fire lighters.

Location is amazing. Staff were also really kind and helpful. These two things made our time at Santa Flavia quite memorable.

The apartment we stayed in was really outdated and needs a complete refurbishment.
