Hakuna Matata Lodge

- We had 2 rooms, one that was downstairs with a terrace, then later got upgraded to an upper room overlooking the lake. - The food was amazing - The staff really took care of us and were really kind and accomodating - the property looks way better than the photos pictured here.

- Wifi was slow downstairs - You need to anticipate the cooking time, since everything is homemade it can take a while. However the food was always worth the wait :)

I am not a breakfast person so I did not take any just the African tea. This place is extremely underrated. It is a nature lover's dream. It is clean, quiet and serene. You have a balcony with comfortable chairs to chill and enjoy the sound of the waves from the Kivu lake and birds chirping. The staff are very friendly. I traveled with my elderly mother who had some medical emergency in the middle of the night and the hotel totally accommodated us. It was so unfortunate we were there for only 1 night. We had way more for the value of our money and I will be back soon.

I loved the gardens and the view into the lake absolutely beautifull. Very affordable also.

The breakfast really needs improving A few pieces of fruit and an omellette wont satisfy most guests - i saw many people complaining about this i really hope the hotel will do better!

location is great, right by the lake.

There’s no hot water in the regular rooms during the cold season as they use solar heaters. They had to move me to a better room for to get hot water. Breakfast options are limited. Mostly just eggs, toast and fruit. Chef makes the grilled fish well, but everything else is hit or miss.
