Nothing to not like

I liked that it was in a quiet location, Paulo was very kind and cheerful.

It was very wet, our clothes were permanently wet. Mold. Our room had no ventilation at all, we had to stay with the windows open. One morning we woke up with rain in the room. Urgent repair is needed 😳

I stayed here with my young daughter, and we absolutely loved it. Paulo is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met—extremely helpful and wonderful to talk to. We needed a new shower head, and it was replaced immediately. The breakfast was excellent, and the location is beautiful, with plenty of lovely hikes to enjoy nearby.

Estalagem Corte do Norte is a hidden gem in the north of Madeira. You have the hills behind you and the ocean right in front, honestly amazing views all around, and we were lucky to have a very wide balcony to enjoy it from. The place feels truly local, not touristic, which we loved, and we really enjoyed exploring the little village in the mornings. Paulo, the owner, made a big difference to our stay, super friendly and genuinely helpful with our daily plans and food recommendations (he sent us to one of the best restaurants we tried during our whole week in Madeira). He even offered to prepare breakfast for our early hike. The breakfast itself was great, good variety, fresh orange juice, refill coffee, and the señorita running it (so sorry I didn’t catch her name) was incredibly kind and welcoming.

Only a few small things. We were three friends and the room felt a bit tight for that, especially with one of the beds being a floor bed. There also weren’t quite enough sockets, so we ended up rotating charging. The bathroom lighting could be better too, quite dim, but overall minor details. Also worth noting: having a car really helps. We did, so it was easy, but without one it could be tricky, especially in the evenings as Bolt is limited.
