The location is very good for visiting SIP. The other hotels in the area were quite a lot more expensive for the dates I needed. The staff member I spoke to when I checked out was very nice (but didn’t speak English so it took a lot time to arrange- leave half an hour to check out if you need an invoice!).

The rooms have AC but no heating. This is fairly typical for this region of China for businesses but for a hotel I’d expected heating. Hotels I’ve used in the past have heating. It was very cold. Twice a day I got calling cards for prostitutes under my door. When I checked in, three members of staff came to double-check my stay of 2 weeks. I suspect a lot of their business is shorter term. As a female solo traveller this made me very uncomfortable. I wouldn’t like it travelling with my family either. None of the staff spoke any English (which is totally reasonable) but no one made any effort to explain anything to me - even in Chinese. I had no idea when breakfast was or how to pay. I ended up having to go to Starbucks every day. Finally, I was on the 10th floor but the level of outside noise was unbelievable (it’s not double glazed). Traffic all through the night, loads of noise from the student accommodation across the square and from the shops below. There was a lot of noise from the corridor too. I could hear conversations in the rooms next to me and across the hall, and people in the corridor might has well have been standing next to me. Between the noise and the cold I barely slept for my whole stay.
