Messini Pension

The pension is perfectly situated in the heart of Nafplio, making it easy to explore everything on foot. The female staff members were wonderful—especially the fantastic red-haired waitress, whose warm energy made every morning special. The room itself was cozy and comfortable, and the daily breakfast was very decent.

Over a four-day stay, housekeeping only replaced the towels without actually cleaning the room, leaving the floors noticeably dirty by the end of our trip. The bathroom is in urgent need of a full renovation to match the rest of the room. It is extremely small and aged, featuring mold in the shower corners, broken pieces on the door, and an old, cracked sink. The air conditioning takes a very long time to cool the room down and even then in enters a stand by mode from time to time. Additionally, the owner could be a bit more welcoming, polite, and approachable with guests.

It was very noisy in the evening. Music was playing just outside our window until 1 am. The room also was cold.

My wife had stayed here about 9 years ago and had a wonderful experience. This time, she took her parents on a short vacation. They all said the place felt run-down, like it had not been taken care of for years. There is a bar on the ground floor that played music until past 2am, it was hard to sleep. They decided to cut their trip short. Nobody cared to find out why. It feels like this place needs some TLC and it could be wonderful again. There’s nothing terribly wrong with it.
