Masseria La Fica

We had a nice stay at Masseria La Fica. The accommodation is comfortable, with good facilities. The room is well equipped with plenty of wardrobe and storage space, a TV and a good sized bathroom. The pool and play park are particularly impressive - with a large, clean pool and a well-maintained play area. The property is a working farm, so it has an authentic feel to it, but can be noisy at times with the dogs, donkey, chickens, and workers during the day. There is also a military airport nearby, and we quite enjoyed watching the fighter jets doing their daily training flights. The dogs and cats we encountered were very friendly. We were greeted very lovingly on our first day by one of the dogs, who decided we were nice company to hang out with. One of the other dogs was quite barky, which made us a little nervous, but he seemed friendly enough. The breakfast was delicious, with a fabulous array of pastries, cheese products, and other treats. The lady who hosted breakfast was always so lovely. Plenty of parking on site. A good location to visit Lecce, Gallipoli, Otranto, and all of Salento. Our room was refreshed after three nights, with a change of bedding, towels, and new toiletries, which was appreciated.

The room wasn't as clean as other reviews led us to expect. Surfaces were clean, but the floor felt quite gritty on arrival, and a tissue used to wipe up spilled suncream came up very dirty. The kitchen facilities in our room were a bit lacklustre. A sink and an electric hob, with some equipment, but missing some basic things like glasses and cups. No salt, oil or basic provisions, unlike other properties we stayed at. The location is remote. We knew this ahead of booking, but the farm roads leading to the property are narrow and in a bad state of repair, so it does feel quite isolated. You wouldn't be able to get anywhere without a car and most restaurants or shops are at least 10 minutes' drive away. As mentioned previously, it is a working farm and can be noisy at times. One day we were woken up by power tools at 7am. Our room appeared to be one of the only rooms without a bench or dedicated seating area outside, and nowhere to dry clothes. There were some communal seats, but these were very dusty. It would have been nice to have a welcome pack or some guest information in the room. We were told some of it on arrival, but we don't speak fluent Italian and didn't catch all of it, so we had to guess some things like breakfast times and pool opening hours.

Ci siamo stati a metà settembre per qualche notte, in una camera con cucinino. Pulito, con la libertà di usare la piscina, e con colazione meravigliosa anche con formaggi di loro produzione, pasticciotto fatto in casa e accoglienza. Ottima base per visitare il Salento in auto. Gli animali ci hanno tenuto compagnia.

Colazione gustosa e abbondante con prodotti del loro caseificio. Location perfetta per rilassarsi. Camera, bagno e piscina pulitissimi. Proprietari molto cordiali e disponibili.

In generale l'accoglienza,la cura, l'attenzione e la generosità. Colazione e formaggi davvero ottimi, spazi curati, bella e comoda la piscina.Torneremo sicuramente.
