Its not even 2 out of 5 star stay to say the least. The other rooms looks fine from the outside but as owners you can’t

The location was good in terms of my stay. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room that I was staying in was spacious enough but it has a few concerns.

Firstly the unsafe parking out front of the yard. I mean we live inna country where car theft is a serious concern and the fact that it does not even accommodate the maximum amount of people that the property can accommodate.Secondly the room self was not so nice. It’s a garden room so it gets a-lot of Sun( it has glass windows that similar to a greenhouse so the heat that builds up in the room which is not nice. That type of idea does not work good. One would think the air conditioner would help but it’s old and only during the night you feel a slightly difference. Other than that the room is very hot during the day even with the AC on that you can hardly feel. The one part of the room( the floor) is very unstable, when you walk on the floor the wood floor bords feels loose and uneven ( almost like you fall through which is a safety irregularity. The bathroom is also a type of greenhouse in-terms of the build so it heats up like a oven and the wall of the bathroom its a thin wood bord so you can’t even lean on it otherwise you will definitely fall through. The wall is weakly pached because if you see closely its nit completely sealed. Imagine in winter the cold breeze comes through. It’s not even stable to press your hand against. Did not see that coming. On the last two nights the wifi in our room was suddenly non existent.

Awful. Will never be back

We arrived and couldn’t use the room or even bathroom it was so hot in the room. Half of it is glass with no screens. So no privacy and like a hothouse. The aircon does nothing to the temperature. The room would not pass any building safety requirements. There are gaps in prefab wall where light comes through. The two beds had glass unscreened ceiling above them so blazing sun. Even when we came back at 11pm hoping room was cooler we now had to sleep with security spotlight blasting into the glass room during night whenever a cat or anyone set it off. The whole property wreaks of cigarette smoke. No attention to detail in the unit. No space to self cater even though there is a fridge and microwave. No ice no teaspoons. No bowls. Just bare basics. Exposed wires. And glassed in bathroom too hot to use. Owner didn’t even bother to respond to complaints. Clearly everyone who comes here are once off and never again visitors. Writing as a warning to anyone else desperate for Stellenbosch accommodation…. Don’t! Rather stay further away!

Loved the Aircon in the room after being allocated a different room. The first room's Aircon did not work, but we were changed after mentioning it to the owner. Loved the peaceful atmosphere n the scenery, the grounds well kept n clean.

No basin to wash crockery, the TV channels being changed while we still watching a program. Bar fridge also too small.

It was a poor stay, not value for money.

It was old and outdated. The mattress was old and lumpy and on top of a chipboard base. The furniture was falling apart. The hot water was not hot; the pillows were thin and old and smelly. There was nothing to wash the cups with (no soap). The cups were old and stained. The windows did not close properly. The fish tank in the general area was green. There are loose tiles around the pool. They did not have a torch or back up power supply when the power was off; so, things in the fridge went off. The elderly owners need to do a lot of maintenance. The power trips if you put on more than one item at a time (you can only boil the kettle or cook toast; but not both). I would strongly advise against staying here as everything is falling apart.

The owner was rude, he had a dog that my partner wasn't comfortable around and yet he insisted she ignore the dog, which she couldn't and we eventually had to leave the establishment.

Enjoyable

The host was very friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean. The outside setting was lovely. We enjoyed our stay.

The write up says free toiletries and mini bar. There was a bar fridge but nothing in it and only hand soap, nothing else but we had our own stuff so it was fine.

Not well kept and pictures do not show the actual truth as it is run down and in need of serious TLC. Carpet old and fraying, no soap to wash hands in bathroom, curtains and blankets dirty and not even sure sheets had been cleaned/replaced from previous person. Linen did not feel exceptionally clean at all.

Disappointing. Needs major attention before its up to standard.

The beds were comfortable. There was a working air conditioner, and it worked very hard, probably due to the poor insulation of this unit in winter.

The room seems to be a converted porch/ sun room. The external "walls" and roof for the alcove for the two single beds was single pane glass on 3 sides with venetian blinds to +-1.6 m only. The bathroom had glass ceiling and exterior walls are panels. Both these sections leaked when it rained, the latter badly. Aside from the leaks in the bathroom, its not ventilated and the condensation on the inside of the glass roof runs down and off any cross piece and land on the floor, which becomes very wet to walk on. The floor section where the single beds were is raised on panels, rather rickety and a danger for tripping. The "self-catering" consisted of a small fridge, with a microwave on top, 3 plates, 3 cups and 3 sets of cutlery, no working surface/ kitchenette and no separate washbasin. In addition, the electrical power at the plugs kept on tripping. This in my mind is not worthy of being called self catering. The owner should withdraw it from the rental market until it is compliant to basic standards.

The owners were very sweet and welcoming. The hideaway is set in a lovely location. We were given an upgrade on arrival and were treated a big bath tub in the room.

Not worth the money

Breakfast was simple but good.

The room was old and outdated. Also, there were no curtains in our room with all the glass so we woke up at 6 am. The room was in bad quality, beds were not comfortable and the pool wasn’t clean enough to swim in. We chose this accommodation because they should have a cot according to Booking but they didn’t. There was also no kitchen available.

The garden was pretty and the host was welcoming and friendly.

The sliding door was the only entrance to one of our rooms and it was broken and couldn't close, thus we couldn't lock our room. The plates inside that we were gonna use was dirty with remains on food still on it.

Great Quiet Secluded Place in the heart of Cape Winelands!

Great quiet place, secluded between palm trees. There is a pool and shaded areas to relax. Rooms, even with no fresh renovation, offer a lot of space and all the things you need for the stay! The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. Great for a short stay!

The room wasn’t the cleanest - floor was dirty, the bathtub as well, there was also no hot water in the shower or sink. In my room was an very strong odor of cigarette smoke. There was a pool, but it wasn’t cleaned.

Literally a hideaway (in a positive sense)

Lovely place in a peaceful location, not too far from the rest of the town. I loved the garden and animals wandering around. The info said there's no internet but there indeed was WiFi which was a pleasant surprise. The bathroom double sink was cool.

I was freezing even with the heater in the room. Also I couldn't get the TV on - didn't bother asking about it as I didn't really need it. Proper knives and a cutting board would have been a great addition.
