Watamu Beach Cottages

The location is really amazing, it does not happen often to be so close to the beach! Our cottage was well furnished and had a nice vibe. We also ate at the restaurant a couple of times and we really loved the food, great chapati and vegetable samosas.

Unfortunately during our stay several robberies happened in the nearby cottages and this made us feel very unsafe. The doors and windows are not of good quality and may need improvement to prevent future robberies. Further, when we arrived only one guard was present at night (and only at the main entrance). Considering that the cottages have direct access to the beach, anyone may enter in the night without any problem. Luckily after what happened, they increased the number of guards. We do still believe that the cottage area should be better lightened and have better fences/gates. In any case, the staff (especially Benjamin) was kind and assured us that more guards would be present. Nevertheless, many of the other guests were not informed or warned, so we thought it was a bit of careless behavior.

The grounds were beautiful. Our cottage was very clean and the staff came twice a day to spray for bugs and clean it. The pool was clean, and we had easy access to the beach. It is wonderful to have a great dive shop on property and kite wind rentals. We felt very safe.

Once you go to the beach, you are approached by vendors. And that is not very enjoyable. One of the office staff would not help us exchange currency which was frustrating.

Beautiful property, spacious, green with a great view. The house was spacious and beautiful. What we liked the most was the peace. It was the only place where we slept in Kenya which was quiet. The cleaning service was very good. It is possible to kitesurf, snorkel and dive. It is perfect for people who somtimes also enjoy selfcatering and don't mind getting a tuktuk to town.

Nothing to do with the property, but the beach got trash during the high tide.
