The apartment was very spacious and beautifully located within the medieval part of the castle, right in the heart of Tuscany, with all the major towns and cities within easy reach. We really appreciated all the thoughtful details throughout the apartment. Roberto and Laura were wonderful hosts, friendly, helpful and very welcoming

From the moment we pulled in, we were greeted by Roberto, our host. The warmth & welcome was felt by all in our group immediately. "Friendly" doesn't even begin to describe the genuine welcome we experienced. We were walked throughout this amazing "castle" by our host as we got to learn of its history as well as charm. Our hosts quickly became more like friends than simply hosts. Sharing the passion and love for the area as well as pride in the property. We had incredible breakfasts at the villa several times and several meals in the village. San Donato is a charming lpittle village, with numerous little shops & restaurants. Impromptu community parties and festivals abound and are open to all. I can't say enough about this place except to say, I honestly cannot wait to visit again. Roberto is also an artist, with his handiwork evident throughout. He will also show you the wine cellar featuring several local vineyards. By the way, the view out the bedroom windows is an incredible one and demonstrates what makes this Tuscan retreat a perfect place to be.
The only thing that I truly did not enjoy, was the end of our time here.

Can't really add much to prior sterling reviews. Everything about del Giglio was superb. Owner/hosts Roberto and Laura are just fantastic. If you decide to stay here, it's so much better than what you can see on-line. I really wished we could have stayed longer than 3 nights. I appreciate that there are many, many choices in Tuscany, but San Donato is an under the radar gem of a village. Great base for exploring northern Tuscany and a quick 30 minutes from central Florence. Highly, highly recommend.
Only minor complaint is seemed like hot water supply was a bit limited.
