Kurunduwatta Villa

I really loved the house and garden. The house is near the railway station. It has a vast garden and is in a quiet location. Ananda was a very informative and helpful host. The place is characterised by thoughtfulness. Nice walks not far from the house. Turtle beach 25 minute walk.

I was happy with things as they were. I would have liked to sit in the garden in the evening but there are mosquitos. Not a problem at all dyri v the day. The bed has nets and there is a mosquito coil for nights.

Необыкновенный хозяин! Заботливый, интересный, давал полезные советы. Снабдил маской для снорклинга, правда без трубки. Комната в целом неплохая, есть собственная душевая, кровать с сеткой от насекомых, но их в целом не было. Пляж довольно близко, буквально 5 минут до одного небольшого, 10 минут для черепашьего, а если прогуляться пару км, можно попасть на длинный отличный малолюдный пляж. Близко кафе, магазины, рынок, жд и автобусные станции.

Многие отмечали звук поезда рядом, но тк рядом станция, то слышны были и перезвон жд сигнализации, и громкие гудки поездов, я просыпалась по ночам. Кроме того, комната для гостей не имеет собственного выхода, каждый раз приходится беспокоить хозяина чтобы выйти, и договариваться о времени возвращения.

Booked Kurunduwatta Villa for one night. I got the train from Colombo and reached Hikkaduwa and walked a very short distance to the Villa as directed in the web page. Ananda was the host and I enjoyed the wonderful hospitality by him. He prepared me a delicious traditional vegetarian breakfast with various fruits and a roty, looks like a pizza. Also several cups of fresh Ceylon tea which I appreciated. The room was very comfortable with an attached toilet in this beautiful colonial ancestral home. as I was about to walk to the beach(about 150mtrs) Ananda took me in his jeep and showed me the best areas to have a dip. In fact he gave me some goggles to wear free of charge and I saw some beautiful fish and corals. He showed me few interesting places around Hikkaduwa. It was very interesting to chat with him to have more knowledge about Hikkaduwa and the history of Sri Lanka. I came to know that he's a qualified guide. I could have stayed few more days in this peaceful place and enjoyed the natural environment with lots of birds sounds. I'll definitely be back!

Beautiful house located very close to the train station. Beach and nice restaurants are just a 10min walk away. The host was super friendly and we had very interesting conversations. He made us delicious breakfast and even asked what we prefer to eat.

Bed was pretty hard.
